Not earthquakes!
It's been THE strangest week to say the least.
As if we weren't unsettled enough with
this whole COVID-19 threat...let's just
throw in an earthquake to freak you out
even more. Seriously, the timing? Are we
in an end of the world movie here?
Scared the @&%* out of me, Hannah,
and my mom. We were the only three in tears
over it. So apparently all the others are
a little more brave when it
comes to the earth shaking.
Who knew?
I was just so thankful everyone was
home..kids not at school, and the hubs
hadn't left for work yet. AND that the
quake was not any worse. Don't want to
be around when the big one comes.
Just say'in.
Needless to say we pulled out our
72 hour kits that day and worked on getting
them more updated.
They are still in a hallway in our basement
ready to roll. I don't think after Wednesday
I'll be putting them away anytime soon.
Even Bing has one.
Kyleigh and Hannah have theirs
at their place.
Today is the weekend, but it doesn't
quite feel like it as everyday is
kinda the same now.
π
Can't help but think of Downtown's
Dowager when she said,
"What is a weekend?''
{I feel ya lady!}
So besides THE QUAKE here's to WEEK ONE of
hunkering down...
Covid-19 coping with the Cooper's!
We had two celebrations.Ordered Pie Pizzeria take-out
for 3.14 pie day!
And had our traditional Sunday
St. Patrick's Day meal
of corn beef and cabbage.
leaving mint grasshopper cookies,
green milk and Lucky Charms!
Kate made a Leprechaun trap the night before!
St. Patrick's Day afternoon we
went on a walk around the neighborhood
looking for shamrocks the neighbors had
put up in their windows or on their doors.
{It was a cute idea the neighbors put
together for the kids in our neighborhood to
get out of the house and get some fresh air
while still practicing social distancing!}
Bing was being naughty so he went
back home with Kyleigh, but Kate and
I counted 22 houses!
Counting our own!
That night we had Lucky Baked Potatoes.I fixed myself a rainbow sherbet float.
and watched some River Dance with
my girls.
Happy first St. Paddy's Day Bing Bing!
*****
Brie and Kate spent hourrrrrs a day
{it seemed} this week working on school work.
Kudos to Murray School District
who had on-line learning up and running
the day after school was closed.
They had been prepping for an at home on-line learning day for March 27th
to make up for a Snow Day we had in February...
so they had a head start.
Brie and Kate have had on-line school every week day which started
on Fri. the 13th,
except the day of the earthquake
as there were some power outages.
Both Brie and Kate would rather be at home
doing school work
so this new way of life has worked for them...
so far.
π
Altho Brie on earthquake day said
she missed her friends.
I think she wanted life to
JUST go back to NORMAL that day.
{Thank goodness for being able to face time
best friends.}
lots of baking this week for Kate...
she made her sisters a cake
per their request.
She tried out her new decorating tips
on a batch of cupcakes...
She also made a really good
blueberry smoothie...for me!
She's been drawing...
sewing barbie clothes...
Reading some books with meand having a bunny coloring challenge together...
She also had a little oopsie with a entire
galloon of milk...
ππ±
You should see her dry alligator skinned hands!
She has dry skin anyway, then on top of all thehand washing.
π¬
Our "green" soap of the month.
Not our favorite smell
but it does the job.
She went to bed last night with tons
of lotion and socks on her hands!
*****
Brie has enjoyed reading out on the deck...
She's read these two books this week.
I love how she's getting into the Regency Era
novels that I and her older sisters enjoy
so much.
{I think Emmsie is on her 4th book of the week}
B is a potato lover and has cookedseveral different kinds.....
Brie, Kate, Emma, Hannah and I
had a map contest.
*****
This was Kyleigh's last hang out
with her friends
for the time being...
{taken last weekend}
She's had the hardest time with this social
distancing.... cuz she likes to be social!
But she is trying her darnedest.
If anything for her grandparents.
Also the city she lived in in Northern Italy {Bergamo} is one of the
hardest hit in Italy.
Soooo many deaths.
π
π
The stories coming out of Italy are heartbreaking.
The family she lived with has
been holed up in their chateau for weeks.
*****The hubs and I were supposed to
have dinner group this weekend
but that went out the window
when dining in at restaurants became
taboo at the beginning of this week.
So just he and I had a date to pick up some
tacos. It was also nice to go on a walk
with him and Kate last Sunday morning.
THAT never happens cuz of church and
early morning meetings he has. The only
time we get to do it is on
a Conference Weekend.
{Have a feeling we might be
taking a few more Sunday morning walks.}
Also two other "I'm grateful for my hubby":
#1 Him blessing the sacrament in our
home on Sunday.
#2 His stable job in the healthcare field.
My heart hurts for people who have to
worry about job loss and financial stress
on top of everything else going on
right now.
My cute friend dropped off kettle corn
on dinner group night since we
couldn't get together.
After reading this news article below
we also bought a gift card from
a local restaurant
of our choice to use at a later time.
Every little bit of cash flow helps them
out right now.
My sweet mama had her 88th birthday
this week.
We are taking this social distancing
pretty seriously.
No visitors.
The TP cracks me up.
I tried making her day as special as I could.
Made her a salmon lunch.
Decorated their office tree all Springy and hung
a banner!
My family sang Happy Birthday to her
out in the hall.
Isn't she a beauty?
Her twin brother {Arthur} just died a
few weeks ago.
π₯
{Arthur and Arlene, is that not cute?}
*****
My favorite memes this week...
Emma can relate to this first one.
π³
We've done plenty of the latter too.
If you need a historical drama to watch
this is available on PBS Masterpiece Passport.
I'm enjoying it!
Kate and I are watching this!
*****
Well, I think that is all for this week..
Kinda feels like we are at war with
an invisible enemy, doesn't it?
Welcome to World War 3 I guess.
Stay Strong and Carry On my friends,
this too shall pass!
