Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 51 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning dΓ©cor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, and yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows; Hannity and Dave Ramsey Talk Radio. I very much miss Rush Limbaugh! I hate when my kids have homework. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time, and believe it or not so is intermittent fasting. I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

A Peek Into our Week...
it's been a doozy.

Kyleigh had a great time in St. George with mission friends....
They took a spontaneous jaunt to Vegas just to get Korean food!

Sis. Clove's missionary homecoming!

*****
A lunch outing with these lovely ladies!

Here we are NOW and THEN
{as in then, I mean 25+ years ago}
I sorta die.
*****
Hannah had her End of Year Drill Showcase.
She also had the ACT this week.
😝
Here she is on her way to take the test...
*****
On Tuesday night
we had ourselves a little
Mardi Gras celebration
with Louisiana Kitchen Style chicken
from Popeyes
and a King Cake!
Then we watched a little Princess and The Frog.
*****
On Wednesday the hubs turned 50!!!!
Like how did that happen???
I made him honey-lime chicken enchiladas
for his birthday dinner....a family fav...

then he was tied up with Bishop duties for the evening....
How FUN is THAT?
so we had to wait to really celebrate til the weekend.
However, I couldn't resist taking balloons and black and white cookies
{the good kind from Sweet Tooth}
over to the church.
I don't think he was too happy to see those balloons. hehe
 *****
It was an epic week for Brie.
It was the 6th grade Shakespeare Play Performances.

The Shakespeare plays are a big deal at the school and many kids look forward to it for years.
{Brie has been waiting since 1st grade to participate in this}

Brie's class put on four plays!!!
...Hamlet, Taming of the Shrew, McBeth and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Brie played the part of Queen Titania in
A Midsummer Night's Dream...
She was Queen of the Fairies...
All of my oldest four have had this awesome 6th grade teacher...Ms. A!
6th grade has been a favorite school year for all of them because of her.
They've all had a chance to experience Shakespeare.
In fact Kyleigh was Ms. A's very first Shakespeare...
so the memories are sorta tender for all of us.
We wanted to acknowledge it somehow...
our gift made her emotional...me too!
Even B's friend from the ward, who is 4 yrs her senior and in Junior High,
 left school early to come and support her.
So sweet!
Brie's Shakespearean crest that she drew!!!

*****
That night Brie, Kate and I had a little Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss celebration!
Kate built a fort and the three of us had some Dr. Seuss reading time together in it...

Kyleigh went to the U b-ball game with some friends that night..

*****
On Friday the hubs took the day off...we snuck in lunch together
then off to the school for more Shakespeare...
That night!!!....
It was time to celebrate the Poppi!
We kind of did a Hawaii Five-O {ya know the police, crime tv drama, with the iconic song?} themed affair to celebrate his 50th!
{Five-O/50th...get it?}
Too bad we couldn't actually celebrate in Hawaii.... 😜   haha, but we tried our darn-dest to go a little Hawaii Five-O'ish....We ate at the Hawaiian restaurant Mo Bettah.

{Poor Poppi in the hands of Hannah's snap chat}

I was teasingly going to make the hubs wear a lei,
but there is no way in **** he would do that. lol He is not into dressing up. period.
quote of the week came blurting from his mouth...
"that is not how I want to get laid lei'd!"
{hilarious}
{btw they offer excellent marinated meat choices...Pulehu, Terriyaki, Katsu}
Then afterwards we went and tried out an Escape Room...
"Crime Scened" of course to go along with our theme.
We had to try and solve a murder within an hour....
Man, was it tricky!...it was sure fun to try, but I found it way too complicated for my brain. lol
Several of us didn't know what was going on half the time...Kate included....
She summed it up best, "technically I was useless."
 A trip to Iceberg after and a little "Moana" watch'in!

*****
On Saturday we celebrated Kate's birthday!
{My baby turned 7!}
If you think we are going from one birthday to the next......we are!
We have FOUR birthdays in our family in less than a month! 😳
 Kate loves the Tink Fairy movies....She got the cutest fairy stuff to expand our fairy garden.
We had a little spa time with the sisters and cousin...
Have you heard of ear candling???
{cleans out your ears the natural way}
She was literally lit up on her birthday πŸ˜‚  it was hilarious!!
sidenote: notice our emergency mug filled with water..appropriately named...just in case there were unwanted sparks or burning ashes where they shouldn't be.
She wanted to get her ears pierced!!
 Her support team!
Hurt a little more than she expected.
😒
After we went and got pedicures...
I hadn't had one IN A YEAR and 10 MONTHS!
{long story}

 The hubs and I took her to the Vietnamese Saigon Noodle House that night for her birthday dinner!
the strawberry boba drink was my fav!
 *****
On Sunday...
Our post Primary lesson "party in the kitchen" for little Link who turned 8 this week!
Kate chose ribs for her birthday Sunday dinner with the hubs side of the family...
G-ma is a master cook!... cooking relaxes her.
*****
It has the complete opposite effect on me....πŸ˜‰
Not my favorite thing to do, at all, but I do get my game on once in awhile..
We had this Tortellini, sausage, spinach soup this week.
It's a favorite around here.

*****
Now to a bunch of this week's randomness...
Saw this shirt!
{need it}
I don't need to say a whole lot.
You can usually tell from my face what's up..haha

*****
Finished Season 4 of this marvelous Australian Drama!
Just love it, love it!
 *****
Three songs I'm crush'in on right now...
An old one..."Never Knew I Needed" by Ne Yo {plays in ending credits of A Princess and a Frog}
"Play that Song"...by Train
This song isn't new either, but "I Feel It Coming" by the Weekend.
*****
My Cougars beat #1 Gonzaga!!!!
Thrilled!
And speaking of BYU...I saved our best news for last...
March 3rd was BYU acceptance day.
Kyleigh has been waiting waiting to hear whether she would be readmitted to the Y.
{readmitted is the key word there...what a story behind that..jeesh!}
She got her acceptance letter at 1:00 in the morning!
Oh Happy Day!

Both she and Emma will be living together down in Provo with two of their cousins.
How fun is that going to be?
{Probably too much fun to be honest πŸ˜‚ }
So excited for them! But not so much for myself. haha
The thought of the two of them leaving brings me to tears.

Phew...I think that's a wrap!
