HELLO 2015!
Wow! Where does the time go? Jeesh!
Even though I've never been a fan of New Years. {Like ever} I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to celebrate, especially a holiday. ;)
And if I'm gonna have a par-tay there are no other people I'd rather celebrate with than my fam! We rang in the new year with some of my siblings and their spouses, even though some died off before midnight... haha.
We did our ringing in the new year photo shoot early, about 10:30.
{My cute, almost, 83 yr old mama stayed up with the rest of us and made it well past midnight.}
We played some of our favorite games and had some good laughs!
Other than card games, I'm not a huge game play'in person. Like my three favorite board games are still the oldies but goodies like Clue, Stratego, and Chinese Checkers. {but because I have a four yr old, I get to add Guess Who, Go Color -our made up version of Go Fish, Disney Yahtzee, and Candyland to my list. Ha!}
We've sure been on a game kick of late though, so I'm gonna share some of our game favorites....
Love, love me some Rummikub! Even the Mr. will play this one.
Golf! Best card game. Ever! We learned the game years ago with face cards, and then we forgot how to play it. I bought the actual card set just recently...so we've been playing this ALOT!
and this!
along with our two other new favorites!
Gotta squeeze this one in...it's a favorite of mine and Kates!
Anywho- games aside- we had yummy New Year's Eve food. I found some fun food finds at the World Market. French Soda and different French Pate's to sample. Prosciutto and Brie cheese on a baguette..it's one of our favorite appetizers. I think Grandma's caramel popcorn balls were the all around favorite though. She makes the best!
Our neighbors gave us a New Year's goodie bag filled with poppers, horns, and silly string etc...
Little ones went nutso with it....
New Years Day!
found us Frozen. Literally. We've had some strange weather of late around here. It felt like 60 degrees the week before Christmas then it dropped to single digits the week after. {Kinda crazy, but I don't mind a bit!}
We spent most of New Years Day painting and organizing...
added a late night pizza run....
Other winter break memories....
Emma finishing up an art project...
Had lunch with girlfriends at Citrus Grill...
Date Night!
Saw "Unbroken" with the hubs and neighbor friends...AMAZING movie. Incredible person that Louie Zamperini!
K so this pic... One of my favorite memories of the whole break! Like I said, we were on a date... The Mr. and I, and another couple were getting into the car after the movie and these five girls pop up from the back of the Blazer.
SURPRISED. THE. HECK. OUT. OF. US!
Gave us a good laugh too!!
They'd been hiding out for a half hour waiting for the movie to end just to surprise us.
{They must have been pretty bored at home}
Heard it was pretty miserable all cramped up in that tight space waiting, but overall the spy mission was a success.
Outing to Cabella's with daddy!
Our Downton Abbey celebration!
Can't believe its Downton time again and that we've been watching this every January for the past 4 years!!! Thank goodness for a little Downton Abbey to cure the post holiday blues.
{I have to say Mr. Mosley and his hair issues were some of my favorite moments of the night.}

Emma gave this English butler nutcracker to grandma for Christmas. His name is Alfred. haha. But he looks a tad bit like Carson to us ;)
Found Pinot Noir and Chardonnay to try {100% grape juice style}
Awe ;)
So.... the consensus around here is that the day back to school after the Christmas Break could quite possibly be the worst day of the year. haha. It's the pits! It rivals the first day of school for sure! So to try and make everyone feel better we had a Pit Party for FHE. ;)
Must leave you with this New Years quote that I love....
Just what us non-January fans need to hear ;)
THE BEST IS YET TO BE
Some of you may wonder: Is there any future for me? What does a new year or a new sememster, a new major or a new romance, a new job or a new home hold for me? Will I be safe? Will life be sound? Can I trust in the Lord and in the future? Or would it be better to look back, to go back, to stay in the past?
To all such of every generation, I call out,
"Remember Lot's wife." Faith is for the future. Faith builds on the past but never longs to stay there. Faith trusts that God has great things in store for each of us and that Christ truly is the "high preist of good things to come." (Hebrews 9:11)
Keep your eyes on your dreams, however distant and far away. Live to see the miracles of repentance and forgiveness, of trust and divine love that will transform your life today, tomorrow, and forever. That is a New Year's resolution I ask you to keep.
Elder Holland, The Best is Yet to Be, January 2010
Happy New Year!
