Kyleigh In Korea
mission update- week 43
Hello everyone!
A few things from this week....
A funny conversation with my companion about my frizzy hair..
Sister Kim: Hey you look like that person from Harry Potter!
Me: Who?? Hermione?? (thinking... awe how sweet! Hermione is pretty.)
Sister Kim: No, Hagrid.
Me: Oh, thanks.. (let down)
bahahahahaha! My hair is crazy here in Korea :)
We went to dinner with two ladies from the branch. They were so excited to meet with the missionaries. It's crazy how popular missionaries are amongst members here in Korea...it's sooo different in America.
We had 9 people show up to our English Class on Thursday! Woot woot!
Met with our investigator family that we have been meeting with since I first got to Bangeojin. They are slowly making progress!
My companion, Sister Kim, had a really good heart to heart chat with one of our investigators. She opened up a lot to Sister Kim after we ended our lesson. They talked for like a 1/2 hour and I just let Sister Kim do her thing.....I couldn't really relate to the conversation. My companion's parents are divorced and are not members and our investigator could be going through a divorce soon. Her husband lives in Seoul and he hasn't seen the family in 5 months. You'd think if a man really loved his wife and kids he'd make the time to see them no matter how busy his work schedule is. So she's going through a hard time right now. Our family is very blessed. We are very lucky to have each other, that we are all members of the church, and that we have a happy life. It's such a big blessing. Our investigator says she can feel things when she prays now...but mostly when her little girls pray for her and the family . The little girls can pray on their own now. I don't know how often they do it when we are not there, but that's okay. Hopefully as time goes on and they continue to meet with the missionaries things will continue to progress and maybe the mom will feel the need or want to come to church. Right now she feels like any type of church wouldn't be of help to her. So we'll have to see what happens...
It was a special holiday so we went out to eat with the Elders.
Met with an old potential investigator on Saturday and she brought a friend.
SO get a load of this...I have a fan! The Elders have a golden investigator right now. He's a Senior in high school and like the sweetest kid ever. The Elders have met with him every day straight for like a week and a half up until school started again recently. {they've had a vacation break for 2 months} With the sister missionaries working closely with the Elders here in our District, my comp and I have had the opportunity to talk to this investigator on several occasions. He does speak some English so it's a little easier to communicate with him. I started noticing that he might be developing a bit of a liking towards me. Well...he wrote me a letter, a love letter! ... which I am not reading until I am on the airplane back home. Goodness, who would have thought that would happen as a missionary. Kinda funny, right? hahaha
We started our Korean class today and no one showed up, so that was kind of a bummer. Today was hard. I had moments where I was like "oh, I'm super happy to be a missionary!" and then other moments where I was like "shoot me now, I want to go home and sit on my bed and not do anything!" But it's okay. haha. There are always ups and down.
Love you all!!
xoxo

In other family news....
I'm a little behind here, but for good reason.
I spent a lot of time here this week.

My baby turned 6!
The elementary school had the day off on her birthday. THAT was divine. We took a little afternoon jaunt downtown to see...
Kate invited her favorite friend to join us.
Look at the excitement on that face!
The family had a princess celebration!
I swear Kate has been planning the food for a year. haha
We thought of a food item to go with each princess...
Here's what we came up with:
Sleeping Beauty- Hershey kisses
Cinderella- mini pumpkin cookies
Snow White- apple slices
Jasmine- Cheetos for her pet tiger Raja
Ariel-Swedish fish
Belle-chocolate covered strawberries {made to look like roses}
Tiana- scones {pretended they were New Orleans Style French beignets}
Merida- Ginger ale drink {to represent Merida's ginger colored hair}
Elsa- 'frozen' blue ice-cream
Pocahontas- nuts and berries
Rapunzel- the tower {filled with bubblegum}
This decor brand {Meri Meri} at Zurchers Party Store..makes my eyes pop out and I lose my head.
Such cute stuff!
Gma C's latest contribution to Kate's birthday Irish doll collection...
Off to her birthday dinner. She wanted seafood. ;)
Check'in out those lobsters!

Farewell to Downton
Finale was perfection. I cried.
Brie refused to put a tea hat on. haha So she was our photographer. ;)
Our favorite English cookie..Digestives!
{They sound horrible, but they are delicious! You can find them at World Market.}

Kyleigh's Spring package ready and off!*****
Brie got braces!
The day before she got them on we had an apple farewell ceremony. haha
Brie's favorite food are apples! {not kidd'in.}
She LOVES biting into a WHOLE apple, but once those braces are on that will not be possible.
They will always have to be cut up. Bummer! :(

Fun Food Find! Tried a new {to us} hamburger joint called Freddy's. Very tasty!

Hannah asked to Spartonian Ball!
Little bit of back story here....Emma is a tad bit obsessed over the Phantom of the Opera.
{Has been for awhile.}
She got Hannah lov'in the soundtrack.
Well...the boy Hannah asked to the dance just so happens to love it too!!!
SO it just made sense to ask him with a Phantom theme.
She had a black cape, mask, roses, lighted candles, Phantom of the Opera music blasting on his porch. An entourage of drill girls hiding in his bushes.
When the big moment came....
No one was home.
a little anti climatic ;)

Two of my favorite TV shows right now...
TLC's Long Lost Family..
anything to do with family history/genealogy...I'm all over it...just fascinates me.
And Little Big Shots.
Kids showing off their amazing talents.
But it's Steve Harvey, the host, that steals the show...he is super hilarious!
