Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 51 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning décor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, and yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows; Hannity and Dave Ramsey Talk Radio. I very much miss Rush Limbaugh! I hate when my kids have homework. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time, and believe it or not so is intermittent fasting. I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

Brie's 6th Birthday Party....a Halloween Bash last Saturday ...
They have the cutest cupcake wrappers out these days! Found these haunted gate looking ones for the cupcakes that we made, topped with spiders, cats and haunted houses...

more treat jars...love those things, especially with the added labels and vintage looking Halloween toppers.
Made a spooky tree from fallen branches which I took some purple paint and black spray paint to..hung bats and other Halloween ornaments from it. One of my favorite elements of the whole party.

We had dry ice coming out of the cauldron which you can't see too good but what a cool effect...it made gurgling noises like a real witches brew...
Bought these carmeled apples and just added the tulle....whalaa!
Took store bought rice crispy bars, put a craft stick in them and dipped them with chocolate and sprinkles...we filled store bought little pie cups with Oreo ice-cream to make spider pies...ran out of black decorating icing for the webbing. boo.
Added little tags to the straws..it's all about the details! Love the worms.

Made mummies to eat....had apples with caramel and bat poop along with witches frightful fingernails.....

The invite... a print out from one of my favorite computer sites. Added a vintage touch by spray painting left over doilies from the shower I threw and used two different cupcake wrappers (do you know those things are just not for baking cupcakes in?!) for the middle and added a Halloween embellishment. Brie delivered them to her friends in her skeleton p.j.s
Mod Podged these two books with Halloween scrapbook paper...labels were a free download...found those little vintage plates dirt cheap at one of my favorite decor stores..
Found this little guy flying on a crow there too. I snatched him because I heard crows are a really hot decor item this Halloween. serious.
Bought these little jars at the craft store and painted them with a special kind of glass paint. The dark bottle, the crushed bat wings, is actually a pretty purple but the camera didn't pick up on that.

THE GAMES
The Spider Game...who ever collects the black widow (a little red dot sticker on the spider gets the prize)
The coffin dig for candy and prizes...

from this bucket
Pin the eye on the monster...

Halloween Bingo....

Hunting for monster eggs...
Our little scaredy cat....Kate woke up from her nap and wondered what the hay was going on...
BOOYA I'm almost 6!
Par-tay Hardy

A little more awake ...

Gift time

The vintage party favors I painted. They are paper mache boxes filled with beans which makes them rattle when you shake...on the back side...a cute saying for little ones spooked while out trick or treating...

Birthday morning...opening up gifts.. A Madam Alexander Doll dressed up as a pumpkin. die.

Brie is star student of the week in her class. She took this "Halloween inspired" spotlight poster to school on Monday. Loved putting this together. It tells all about her, showcasing some of her favorite things...her family, Disneyland, music, drawing, dancing, Scooby Doo & Tom and Jerry cartoons, Junie B. Jones books and favorite foods...salad, shrimp, chocolate chip pancakes and broccoli. not kidding on the latter. She loves that stuff!

Off to school on a snowy morn with her b-day treat bags to share with her classmates.
Love this kid! One of the things I admire most about Brie is her tender heart and the compassion she has for other people at this young of an age. You'll hear her say, "I feel sorry for her". etc. Not too long ago she was praying for an elderly gentleman in our ward who was dying. Each time her words to Heavenly Father melted my heart. Just yesterday she pulled from my church bag a bookmark which has a picture of my deceased sister- in- law on it. She stared and stared at it without saying a word. And then I could tell she was going to cry. we miss her. So we hugged and burst into tears together. Tender moment I tell ya. Another thing I love about her is that she has memorized parts of the primary songs "I Wonder When He Comes Again" (one of my all time fav Primary songs) and "Book of Mormon Stories" on the piano. She just sits down at random times throughout the day and plunks away at it. Tickles me to death. Happy Birthday to my sweet B. Olivia. Love you!

  1. You know Jaren is right. Right?
    I love it!

What IS your favorite download website? We're in party mode for this weekend. And you KNOW there is no help for a HARBOR SEAL birthday party at Iparty.

Oh, and that average homemade rootbeer with dry ice in a cauldron every mormon party trick is a REAL crowd pleaser here on the east coast. Our non ward party attending/REAL drinking crowd was REALLY wowwed by that trick on Boo's first birthday. Of course, we have to have the Albertson's extract "imported".

Ok, and forget the craft story. There are humongous crows ON MY ROOF this week. What the? I'm ready to go all "Steel Magnolia" on them. It's creeping me out.

And finally, you are BRAVE to have that all at your house. After last year's take #1 on the harbor seal party, we are vacating the premisis Saturday to raise hell somewhere ELSE. Have not told the YMCA yet that we're hauling in a cotton candy machine. As you may well know, it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

And I really should email you. This "discussion" is getting lengthy.

But seriously, help me out with the downloads.

And come plan my 40th! WIll you?

I realize now I'm going to need your help on pretty much every party I plan from now on. You have been warned!
Brie (and your other lovely girls) are so lucky to have such a crafty, talented and amazing mom. You are so great.

  3. The picture of brie giving two thumbs-up with all the party-goers says it all! Katie loved the party. Thanks for inviting her. I too would love to know the website where you get all your downloads for invitations and pictures!
