Thanksgiving!
Thanksgiving is the bomb for me. It's my favorite day. Filled with two of my loves...family and food. The day is simple, and low key with not a lot of fuss.... Just the way I like it.
Every year we tell the 5 Kernels of Corn Pilgrim story and share our 5 "thankfuls" around the breakfast table .....
The Sunday before Thanksgiving, the Primary kids were told in Sharing Time the 5 Kernels of Corn Pilgrim story. They also made crafty ears of corn out of Corn Pop cereal and green tissue paper. How cute is that? We copied the idea and made some for our table settings.
Brie made our Turkey centerpiece at school!
We ate Thanksgiving dinner with Daddy's side. Emmsie always helps g-ma by setting and decorating the table on special occasions.
Brie wrote the cutest poem in school about Thanksgiving Dinner....
Bake a turkey golden brown
Grandma's is the best in town...
Salty corn it tastes so great
Hurry! Pile it on your plate.
Homemade gravy grandma makes
Pumpkin cookies that we bake.
Families meet together
Because they are forever.
It's time to eat, "Shout Hooray!"
What a great Thanksgiving Day.
We went to my sisters to visit with my side of the family and eat delicious pie. My brother-in-law has a pie making hobby. He made 11!
We went and saw the new Disney movie. Not MY favorite, but I was entertained enough. ;)
These are the little Thanksgiving treats I put together for my Primary class.
{printable from marcicoombs.com}
I have to say the best treat around here lately though have been Daddy's gingersnap cookies. They make me happy! Go Dad!
A little Junie B. ...Thanksgiving style. My fourth grader still enjoys these books. {And so do I.}
Brie has been reading it to me.
Hannah, Kate and Brie wanted to put their little Christmas trees in their bedroom. Kate put hers in ours. I love it!
so...Brie and Hannah wanna redo their room for Christmas. I'm hoping Santa's elves will come paint for me. Cuz I know I don't want to. lol Painting is almost at the bottom of my "fun to do" list. And besides I love Brie's bed the way it is.
Lov' in this quote about Black Friday....
This, plus Emmsie's words, "I hate getting up early, I hate crowds and I hate shopping"... pretty much sums up my feelings about Black Friday.
I personally don't want anything bad enough to put myself thru that ridiculousness. So I avoid the stores like the plague. {And don't even get me started on how they are opening stores even earlier now, as in 6:00 on Thanksgiving night?!?! In my mind something is really wrong with that.}
We decorated a gingerbread house the day after instead of shopped.
Kyleigh did brave it and went mall shopping with a cousin late Thanksgiving night after the movie. Kinda crazy I say, although not as crazy as the shenanigans she was up to... playing a Thanksgiving prank on a friend of a friend. Kyleigh & friends {dubbed the Turkey Bandits} left random Thanksgiving food items on some kid's porch FOR DAYS. They went through the whole Thanksgiving feast...turkey, next night was a box of stuffing, then a can of yams, rolls, etc. etc. Each food item had a cute, clever saying to go with it. The kid was stumped. He probably thought he was getting asked to a dance. haha! Nope! just crazy college kids having some Thanksgiving fun.
Happy December!
