Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 54 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning décor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories, are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football and basketball fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows. I enjoy politics. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I do not like attention directed at ME. lol I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I hate when my kids have homework. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, and chapped lips drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! There really isn't a food I don't like. LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time. I'm always on the hunt for yummy gluten free food though as I am gluten intolerant. Ugh! I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker and documenter ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's on my Happy List?

MORE DAVID ARCHULETA STUFF... whoot!

David you have stolen the hearts of millions including mine ...

I got the best phone call this week from my friend
Katrina in Arizona. She attended the American Idol
concert Tuesday night in Glendale, the first concert
of the 2008 American Idol tour. AHHHHH! If that
isn't exciting enough....it gets better! She and her
family are huge Brooke White fans and because
she is a close friend of Brooke's family she got back stage
passes AHHHHH! to see the Idols after the concert.
She not only talked with David Archuleta, but told him
about ME and how I am such a diehard fan of his. Katrina
said he seemed really touched with her account of all the
things I tried to do during the Idol season to get people
to vote for him. Anyway, he gave her a personalized
autograph to give to me. AHHHH!
(had a tad bit of a freak out over the phone... sorry Katrina LOL)
Above is the picture of Katrina and Jeff with David. Katrina
admits that she was starstruck.....of course, how could she not be!
After hearing the awesome concert reports, watching him sing his
four concert songs via fanblast and justintv... AND hearing about
Katrina and Jeff's experience, I was ready for a fangirly breakdown***sob***

Here is David singing WYSYLM (dedicated to his fans) during
the San Diego concert. ***thud***

What's on my Happy List?

Okay, you would have thought someone had died had you witnessed my life post American Idol. I've been on such a natural high for weeks with all this American Idol hoopla that now that it is over, I seriously had to go through some type of grieving process to recuperate. Not sure that I've made a complete recovery yet, (because seriously what am I going to do on Tuesday nights now?) but I just had to record some of my favorite memories of this amazing 4 month, once in a lifetime journey that David Archuleta has taken me on.
*David Archuleta's voice and smile*memories of voting faithfully every Tuesday night for months** hob nobbing with people that know David the best at the three At&t go-phone texting parties I attended** a record 97 million votes casted on finale week** using multiple methods of voting all at the same time...two go phones in hand, my cell phone, my land line phone, and the international computer voting feature through Gizmo**spending hours at Murray High programing the new go-phones that had been donated from fans all over the country**my daily involvement with the David Archuleta fanblast website* my e-family** the Archies and Golden Archies** Brett Kane Hales and Dar Seacrest** O.D.D. Obsessive David Disorder**being interviewed on fan blast**downloading Gizmo on neighbor's computers so they could maximize their votes for David**being the ringleader of our "Vote for David" weekly parades through the neighborhood in our decorated cars, the last one culminating with 10 cars, over 50 people involved and two news stations coming to see what all the ruckus was about**Randy Jackson's "That was molten hot!"**Everything about David's Day right here in Murray Utah** watching the finale with all the fans at the Energy Solutions Arena....a dream come true**one of our David signs being singled out by the Idol host**being on Fox 13 News**Pineapple Boy**the screaming, hooping and hollering like I've never done before in my life (other than BYU football games)** my obsession coming close, if not surpassing that of IL DIVO**my supportive husband**my neighbor's claiming I would have been a groupie in the 60's**American Idol ice-cream**the chills and the many tears listening to David sing**being in LA the morning after and giving a shout out when we passed the Nokia Theatre where the finale was held**David and Simon are knockouts** Kyleigh being interviewed by Channel 2** Sweet Caroline (my kids favorite)**our CD of David's songs downloaded off of I-tunes**you could sing the phone book** David vs. David** re watching and re watching David's performances on YOU TUBE**the moments leading up to the big announcement and the biggest anti -climatic moment of my life**David coming in second place and I say that only because he's free from the controlling and restrictive Idol contract,* he can now sing what he wants and record his first Cd with whomever he chooses**David's last three performances**the laughs and tears going to the car wash to wash off all the David Archuleta decor and realizing some of the most exciting weeks that I've had in my life were over* Back Stage passes to the American Idol concert**DAFTW**

What's On My Happy List?

I believe I just had one of the funnest experiences of my life. I had the opportunity to be in charge of our Ward's Roadshow in our Stake's Production of "Broadway Our Way". Each ward was given the task to perform a Broadway show tune. The challenging part was that you only had ONE WEEK to put it all together and allowed (2) two hour practices. Can you say Crazy!!!! This opportunity provided so many humorous moments for me yet at the same time I don't know how many times I sweared under my breath this week and wanted to just forget this whole darn thing!!!! However, we persevered and I'm so glad we did. I wouldn't have traded this experience for anything. Our ward's show tune was "You Can't Stop the Beat" from the Musical "HAIRSPRAY". My Kyleigh played the part of Tracy Turnblad, minus a few pounds, and did a lot of the choreography. I would have been absolutely clueless with out her help. So thank you Kyleigh! And thanks to Grandma C. and Emma for converting the dining room to a dress making shop and whipping out all those cute poodle skirts in no time. Everyone just did SO WELL in the short amount of time that we had to prepare. This downloaded video just brings a smile to my face every time I watch it and I know I will never look at a can of hairspray the same again! EVER!

The "Dive Into Reading" Book Fair I so love books! Especially children's books. I was in charge of the book fair at the school the week before last and then went straight into preparing for the roadshow this past week. Two huge projects back to back without a reprieve was a little much. Can we spread out the fun here?

Surprise Parties

My sister Karen's 50th SURPRISE birthday party at the
Olive Garden, (which I failed to post last month.) All I can
say is I can't wait to turn fifty if I have the two days of
pampering like she did. Whoohoo!

Bubbly and Cupcakes for our Anniversary!
So looking forward to our get-away to celebrate
our 15th!

American Idol
I went to the party at the High School to watch American
Idol on the big screen with fellow David A. fans. I got me
my "I VOTED FOR DAVID ARCHULETA" t-shirt and
couldn't have been happier than a pig in mud. I'd rather
be caught dead than in a t-shirt (such a weird pet peeve
of mine) but I proudly wore that t-shirt to work the next
day. We are so in for the time of our lives with these last six
weeks of competition. So stoked about it that I can't
even begin to explain.

The NCAA Championship Party For F.H.E.
a couple of weeks ago we gathered at the neighbors
for dinner and to watch the Championship game
between Kansas and Memphis. Our hostess gave out
fun, creative prizes to whose team during the tournament
"Cracked Under Pressure", was the "Cinderella" team,
who played like "Pansies", etc. etc. We loved the two and a
half weeks of healthy competition between the neighbors
during Hoops Hysteria. We're definitely making this a
neighborhood tradition for sure!

Kyleigh and Emma's Ballet Recital
They performed this month in M.C.'s production of the
Russian Ballet, "Firebird".

Girls Night Out It's a tradition for Grandma C.
to take all us girls out on General Conference Weekend
while the guys are at the Priesthood Session. We
enjoyed dinner together and then went for the first time
to the new gelato shop right down the street from us. SO
YUMMY! Afterwards we watched Alvin and the Chipmunks
and then the girls and I had a sleepover camped out on blow up
mattresses in the living room. FUN NIGHT!
