Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 44 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and travel. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a tablescape, or dΓ©cor for a themed party etc. puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to be really in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky jewelry. I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic chateau look with a hint of bohemian, baroque and vintage shabby chic, like an English cottage. {confusing I know!} Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and jogging. BUT you’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark Channel. I love the elderly. I love Disneyland. I love being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal almost every day. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens and Gallic French roosters. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I hate when my kids have homework. I collect quotes, Madame Alexander Dolls, and Disney pins. I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline Mystery and the genealogy TV show "Who Do You Think You Are?" I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I’m an Anglophile… love anything English! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen hand towels and dishrags make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lip gloss. Pairing up white socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking and ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I love celebrating holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I love happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

A Peek into our Week....
I got to help with and participate in the elementary school's second annual fun run
πŸ˜„

In other school news....
Here I am participating in the Great Utah ShakeOut Earthquake drill.
somehow I managed to get mostly under one of those small Kindergarten tables...
kind of a humorous situation I found myself in.
*****
 Good Eats this week...
lunch out with one of my favorite ladies...
always love the opportunity to catch up with her
It was also time for my monthly get together with these gals...
...we met at Stella's Grill...
My gosh the time with these ladies often leaves me speechless.
{The news I hear!!! 😲 πŸ˜‚  so entertaining!}
This outing was no exception. And that was even without Ju, who
sadly couldn't make it.
  *****
Our monthly dinner group just happened to be this week too....
We tried the Pho Thin Vietnamese restaurant in Sugarhouse for the first time.
Goodness me...Yummy Yum Yum.
Seriously, their appetizers...
the Ha Noi Crispy Pork Spring Rolls
and Sesame Chicken Lettuce Wraps....
SO dang good!
I'd go back just for those!
If you want to compare Vietnamese food...
Pho Thin sure gives Oh Mai a run for their money on their caramelized pork rice plate,
but Oh Mai's Pho is much much better...
In my humble opinion. πŸ˜‰

then after we headed here...
My gosh!
How come I never knew about this place?
You can get gelato stuffed in a cannoli shell!!!
πŸ˜‹
{and the music they had playing...right up my alley...made my heart smile}
My friend was so dang excited about the coconut flavor!

BUT the sea salt caramel=divine!

THEN if I hadn't had enough good food...
we celebrated my dad's birthday with lunch at Mobettah's on Saturday!
He loves their Katsu chicken!
*****
In other news....
Kyleigh had a good time at the Activity Day Cultural Activity
talking to the girls about Korea and letting them try some Korean food.
She had a fun hangout with missionary friends who were showing a Korean
Salt Lake City for the first time.

*****
Other favorites from this week!
My current favorite songs:
"Something Just Like This" by Chainsmokers & Coldplay
One Direction's Harry Styles' single "Sign of the Times"

finishing THIS book!
If you enjoy WWII historical fiction you will find it a fascinating read.
I love reading about holocaust survivors...talk about strength of the human spirit!

What's On Our Happy List?

A Peek into our Week...
Some fun eats...
Have you heard of Baked Bear?
It's an ice cream sandwich shop where you can build your own ice cream sandwich!
Pick your ice cream flavor with your choice of a bottom and top cookie.
OR you can have a cookie bowl!
Kyleigh and Hannah were dy'in to try this new place at Fashion Place Mall.
I went along just for the ride.
Also, have you tried the Acai bowls at Roxberry?
very tasty ;)

World's Best Corndogs was at the Soho Food Park this weekend.
{Oh happy day!}
*****
 B went to a best friend's birthday party on Friday night...
She had a hey day making this dream board collage for her!
*****
Hannie had a date to go hike Ensign Peak...

Cleaning the church on Saturday morn...
Good times???..
😐
Also on Saturday morn...the Easter bunny found his way to our house
Kate followed the trail of cotton balls bunny tails to the baskets....
found in the tulips..
On Saturday afternoon the hubs, Hannah and I attended the volunteer luncheon at Little America for all the LDS hospital volunteers.
{It's always so very nice.}
Hannah and her good friend Emma have been volunteering for the past three summers.
They are shooting for scholarships.
{One more summer to go.}
This little one was surprised with a new mountain bike that afternoon!
My favorite pic of the whole week!

The hubs and I and some of the kiddos went for sushi that night...
B was having a big time sushi craving!

She also put together Kate's fairy garden for her.
How stink'in cute is this?

I found these cute Easter eggs at Sam's Club..
{already filled with candy! πŸ™Œ  }
Another egg hunt with the cousins!
Our traditional Egg Crack-Off Competition!!!

MY EGG WON!
{last one rolling without a crack!}
Emmsie and g-ma C made deviled eggs!
we had other eggs hatching! ;)
 The primary kids with their handmade Easter Lily flowers!
 You should hear them sing the Easter song "Gethsemane".
Adorable!
My dad's birthday was also on Easter Sunday!
He turned 85!
Love my fam and the time together visiting!

Kyleigh's outings this week...
{there were a few haha}
lunch with a former companion...
dinner with some mission buddies...
 and Temple outing with two former companions...
I loved this snap chat that she sent me....sums up Easter week nicely I think.
