Kyleigh in Korea
mission week 78 & 79
We were invited to dinner with a Vietnamese couple who have been members for less than a year. Super sweet family.
We've met with that older lady in the apartment building next to us a couple of times now. She has a lot of potential, she believes in God and Jesus Christ, but is hesitant to come to church. We will continue to meet with her. There is always hope.
So we met this one lady on the subway a couple weeks ago. She thought it was cool that we are missionaries and she told us about this service activity she does every Saturday and invited us to come. So long story short we had to get permission to go outside of our area to go because it was quite a ways away. So Sister Clove and I show up to this park near the city hall in Busan and we see hundreds of old people sitting around tables (we knew we would be serving the elderly food but didn't realize how big of a project this was). So we walk over and everyone's eyes start to stare at the two foreigners walking over. Just imagine hundreds of Asians and two white girls....it's hilarious! The lady who told us about the service activity saw us and waved us down. She started pulling us around everywhere introducing us to the people that were in charge. Then we found out that our job was to pass out water to the elderly after they were done eating...they would come over and we would hand them drinks. The whole place got a kick out of us two foreigners passing out water. The old people loved it and thought it was hilarious. Sister Clove and I were like movie stars for a whole hour haha!
There was a holiday here in Korea called pehpehro...sorry I don't know the English translation...any who its a holiday where you pass out 빼빼로 candy. So Sister Clove and I bought some and made it all cute (put John 3:16 and ribbon on them) to pass out to the people on the streets that we say hello to everyday! My favorite was when we gave some to the man selling chestnuts by the subway station. We pass him several times everyday and we never talk but he got the biggest smile on his face when we gave it to him. It made me happy. The next day we walked over and he was super happy to see us and he said thank you. Sometimes it really is in the small things that will help change peoples hearts or even just brighten someone's day.
Reading in the Book of Mormon this week I discovered something that I liked. So in Alma there are lots of chapters on wars and such things and there are always scriptures that sound like....and there had never been such strength seen among all the Nephites even from the time that they came out of Jerusalem...or never had the Nephites prepared so well...or never had they fought with such valor....that kind of thing. So I talked about it with Sister Clove because at first I thought it was a little cheesy that they would repeat it so much, but then we came to realize that back then each group of Nephites and Lamanites were always getting stronger. There was the need to be strong and fight back more and to prepare more and to rely on God more. It's the same in our world today. As members we are becoming stronger, but Satan is also becoming stronger and so we have to prepare even more, to be able to fight back stronger and stronger each time just like the Nephites did. Pretty cool right? The Book of Mormon really does relate to us in our day and time. :)
Sorry I typed these super fast! Hopefully they make sense! We are having fun and working hard. Life is good. Korea is awesome!

This month we tried Dim Sum House for Chinese.
Yum!
The live entertainment was crazy good.
{Some Chinese artist... singing Flamanco ? music.}
Whatever it was he had talent.
Speaking of Crazy......
{This quote makes me giggle}
I find this so fitting for all those hysterical liberals out there on college campuses who, after the election, are so distraught that they need safe places with handouts of hot cocoa and tissues for their cry fests, service dogs, coloring/play dough sessions, and exams postponed...
OH MY GOSH, FOR REALS???? 😂
And how old are we?
They are prime example of what is wrong with the youth of today... no coping skills, coddled, and entitled!
Sad. Sad.
Get a hold of yourselves people.
