mission update week 37
The most exciting thing of all is that we are preparing for two baptisms for this Sunday!!! A mom and a little girl. The funny thing is I've never taught them a lesson. I have taught the little girl some simple things about prayer, but the mom has been meeting with other missionaries off and on over the past year. She has really good friends in this branch. The opportunity has just been waiting there for her to be baptized. She feels like she is ready now and she wants her little girl, who is old enough, to be baptized too. We are really happy for them.
We have our special sacrament meeting on Sunday as well. President Barrow and the District Presidency are coming. We will hopefully have some investigators come, as well as friends and family of the branch who are not members. Purpose is to show them what our meetings are like. It will be more of a question and answer session where they can learn more about the church.
It's definitely been a crazy, exciting, tiring week, but it's all good. :)
Love you all so much!

In other family news this week...
More drill!
Hannah had Region Competition... Another one of those darn early mornings that kick us in the butt. ;)
There are 8 schools in our region.
Three of them...Skyline, Judge and an art school do not have drill teams so there were just 5 teams competing. Only four go on to State. We took third place. Phew! So off to State we go!
Go Spartans!
My girls say there is some strange rumor going around the high school that because it's our school's 100th anniversary coming up that they are changing our school colors to Purple and Orange and going back to our original mascot. {the State Street smelter towers}
So we'd be the Smelter-ites again!?!
Can you even imagine?
My girls are mortified at the thought of it.
{Spartan Pride just runs too deep on both sides of the fam.}
I'm not one to pipe up and make a fuss, but you better believe I'd be boycotting that one.
That or move. haha
Sisters are the bomb.
These two... best friends!

Food Fav's of the week!
Had some fun experimenting with different seasonings for our salmon dinner...
Trader Joe's balsamic glaze
avocado oil/sea salt
lemon pepper
...the Oregon pear and pepper jelly was my fav!
SO does it not seem that it's National such and such day all the time now?
Like Brie just recently celebrated National Popcorn Day at an Achievement Day Activity.
We had quesadillas with different cheeses for dinner the other week for National Cheese Day.
And apparently it was National Chocolate Cake Day yesterday, who knew?
G-ma did.
She made this in honor of it.
{There were some happy mouths around here.}
*****Unwanted Drama!
SO get a load of this. Emmsie was working her shift {alone} at Seagull Book a few nights ago. SOME WACKO DUDE CAME IN AND ROBBED THE STORE!
My Poor Emmsie!!!
It was a frightening experience. To say the least. Details of the ordeal would take forever to explain so I'll refrain from that, but I will say this....if you are going to be unfortunately involved in a robbery...this would be the way you'd want it to go down. It could have been 100 x worse. The robber, although clearly off and or high on something, was calm and polite and even asked Emma...as he's just inches away from her stealing the money....if she was doing okay??? Can you believe? Emma's comeback was classic. lol
Very impressed with how Emma handled the entire situation. When a handful of police arrived and started asking her questions she told an officer. "I can't cry and talk at the same time." {Awe! Love my Emmsie.} She is doing okay... although clearly shaken up over it all, and doesn't want to return to work ever again...but who would? Just beyond grateful that she was kept as safe as she was.
