Anyhow, Emma's efforts were very thoughtful and sweet. There was a shooting in our neighborhood late that same afternoon. {There is nothing like a little murder in the neighborhood! Seriously how bizzare..} So that, on top of everything else, we ran out of time.... so the Hub and I finished off our celebrating by watching the War Horse together the following night.
Actually the celebrating started on the weekend. We went to one of our favorite Chinese restaurants. It should be featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. The latter it is for sure, a true hole in the wall, but we love it! Little Kate got to come with as the other sisters, minus Emma sick on the couch, were having a party at the neighbors watching One Direction appear on Nickelodeon's iCarly. I'm telling you those One Direction gatherings are neighborhood affairs. Even Dad and I watched later.
My brother's wedding....Happy Day! It's wonderful to see him and his new wife, Karine, so happy! They were married in the Salt Lake Temple for time and we had a lovely luncheon at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building afterwards.
Cute blended family which includes two new nieces and two new nephews...

We celebrated my Dad's 80th Birthday!
Kyleigh had her school's drill dance tryouts....if you knew the decision process for her to even get to that point..you'd be impressed although mentally exhausted... because I know I was. After an intense four days she found out she made the team. Congrats Kyleigh! We celebrated by using left over Sweet Tooth Fairy gift cards from Christmas. Kyleigh is obsessed with their chocolate cookies. And I don't think that is an understatement. She will agree she walks over there with friends after school way too often. While there we were able to taste test the winning cupcakes from the Food Network's Cupcake Wars. Sweet Potato and Cranberry Wine & Brie Cheesecake. Yum! I opted to try the cupcake shake for the first time. Goodness me. And you see what cupcakes are being featured in May? Hold the diet folks.
The obsession with One Direction is still going strong, and I don't see it dying out anytime soon. Especially when they just announced ANOTHER North American Tour for the summer of 2013! Yes, that is 15 months away. Crazy! But out of the 20 something places they are going to, Salt Lake just happens to be one of them and tickets went on sale on Saturday..gulp.. Not the ideal situation for the budget especially when we just purchased Vegas tickets. Needless to say we are in the nosebleed section for the Utah concert but extremely happy to be in the building. And Brie gets to join us for this one!
{don't know who to give this picture credit to but this ought to make any One Direction Fan happy!}
Hannah and her girlfriend made One D cupcakes for themselves, Kyleigh and her girlfriends who were having a little girls night at our place. Emma was at a girlfriend's birthday party and I was out with the ladies celebrating two girlfriends birthdays at the Blue Lemon. Too fun. It was an overall party night. A great reprieve from a pretty crazy day and week which included all the above plus normal life as well as a baby shower, an open call appearance for National America Miss with Kyleigh, helping a friend pick out paint colors, early morning church cleaning, Kyleigh ACT test, parking drama, and dance pictures for three girls which included 7 costume changes. Gotta love that! Our minor mishap of the week was Brie being 5 minutes late for her class picture and missing it as they were ahead of schedule. That is the first time that has happened to us in all these years of dance pictures. Oh well, you win some and lose some! ;)
