Lots of Happy's!
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!
The family put on quite a spread for the Super Bowl. Lots of yummy football food...ribs, wings, smokies, shrimp, dips, salad, vege's, fruit and even football shaped oreos. All I had to make was the mint ice-cream pie. And I did it football style! Funny thing is, the majority of us don't even watch the game we just celebrate the occasion by eating the food. Strangely, for as much as I enjoy football I really could care less about the NFL. It's all about college for me.
Happy 10 yr. anniversary of the Olympic Games in SLC!
Utah is celebrating the 10th anniversary this month. My goodness. Where does the time go? In 2002, Kyleigh was a Kindergartner and had just turned 6. Gulp! I remember she participated in a special Olympic program at school called "Light The Fire Within." I gave each of the girls a special Olympic Edition Kelly Doll. I swear it looks like Kyleigh and Emma are wearing white garbage sacks. haha! I actually think they are. If my memory serves me right I believe they were trying to make Greek togas in honor of the first Olympians.
We bundled up and watched the Olympic torch come right by grandma's neighborhood. I remember feeling so proud after watching the opening ceremonies that our State pulled off such a spectacular event.
Happy Groundhogs Day!
This was our version of Punxsutawney Phil who saw his shadow last Thursday. He's peeking up from an after school treat...a slice of homemade banana split ice-cream pie. Love the concept but trying a different recipe next time. Not overly impressed.
Happy 100 Days of School!
Brie got to celebrate the 100th Day of School this week. Emma and Hannah had the same first grade teacher and her 100 day celebration always turned into some major project for us...like here with Emma seven years ago. I drew a Dalmatian Dog which had 100 spots, thanks to some mini oreos. For Hannah's we made a Mickey Head Mural from 100 small Disney character pictures. {actually there were a few more than 100 to make it work..I think her teacher thought we couldn't count} Why I have no picture of that crazy "what was I thinking?" project still baffles me. It was pretty cool look'in.
It was quite a relief when Brie's teacher sent this bag home and all Brie had to do was fill it with 100 things. She had to think of something that the kids wouldn't easily guess. She put in a variety of 100 dry beans. And no one guessed it! You go girl!
We have a Happy Birthday Girl this week too!
