A friend who knows we appreciate fashionable things told us we HAD to check out this vintage store in downtown SLC called "Decades". So the girls and I had a little outing one afternoon this past week to check it out. Kyleigh was so hoping to find some cool vintage blouses for school...
Whoa.. If you are into vintage items this is a must place to see! The interior design was amazing...It was a trip through time...starting, I believe, with the 1920's...what an enormous collection of vintage clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry...and much more! My favorites were the old vintage hat boxes, record album covers and that classic picture of Cary Grant in the display case below (whoo hoo)... Kyleigh and I found two pairs of THE
cutest high heels that we would have gotten in a heartbeat if they would have fit! So much for our honk'in feet! And I think they were only like $17 dollars too. What a steal!
The clothing wasn't quite what we were expecting...wouldn't be caught dead in it as it was too costum'ish for our tastes, although there were a couple of 1960 vintage dresses that Kyleigh and Emma thought were darling.
We got in trouble for trying to take pics...whatever! I think the store manager saw all us girls and thought we were there to play dress up. So the pictures of the store I posted are courtesy of the thedesignbuzz.blogspot.com and tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com. What an interesting store to spend some time, although I will admit, most of us were weirded (is that even a word?) out by it all... didn't like the smell of the place, didn't want to touch anything (call in the hand sanitizer) and couldn't wait to leave...We stopped in the alley way to take these pictures by the adjacent building. Talk about old, worn, vintage brick! The same colors as Kyleigh's shirt even. Would have utilized the perfect backdrop more if Emma hadn't thought we were going to be mugged in broad daylight. Such brave girls.
Our second stop was to Elizabeth's Pastry and Tea Shop, (much more agreeable for all in tow)...We love this charming place..its right next door to the London Market, another favorite.

vintage tea pots and vases line the rustic brick wall...
The food...delicious! I was going to say we nibbled on tasty English treats...but it was more like inhaled a cucumber sandwich, ginger biscuit, several other cookies, pomegranate and peach lemonade, egg custard tart, and 2 vanilla slice pastries (the unanimous favorite).

The sitting bench is lined with pillows in an array of different fabrics...another perfect picture opportunity...
My favorite! Kate gazing out the lace curtain lined window with the sunshine pouring in. Need to squish those chubby cheeks...
