Kyleigh in Korea
This week was rough. We literally have no investigators. It’s hard sometimes because I’m like “why don’t you people want to learn about Jesus??? It’s the last week of the transfer. After this transfer ends there are only four foreigner sister missionaries older than I am in missionary age…if I end up training I will do the best I can. :) The language is getting better…I know I will never be super amazing, but I can get by. It’s interesting because I’m noticing that people come to me for advice and they feel like I am easy to talk to…I want to improve my leadership skills and hopefully I will have the chance here soon.
I will tell you a cool experience from this week. I had to give a talk at District Meeting. I was really nervous because I’m on my seventh transfer ... so I should be able to do it all in Korean.. There are a lot of problems in our District right now. There are 10 missionaries in our District… five companionships {my companionship is just fine} but some others are really struggling. They don’t get along… just having some major, major issues. Our District Leader called me and said, this assignment is from the Lord, but I also knew you would be the best person to give this talk. These people need your help. The topic he wanted me to speak on was “How can we become closer to Christ?” We talk about it all the time, this is something we want, but why do we want this, and really how can we do it? I had a ton of thoughts running through my mind as I was trying prepare. I was sitting at my desk one day and I was like K…we are going to go fairytale style! :) I thought of Cinderella’s quote “HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND.” I made a cute handout and I found three general conference talks and three scriptures that would be perfect for them to read.
I talked on HAVING COURAGE to defend our beliefs because as missionaries it’s hard when people reject us, but as we continue to defend our beliefs our testimonies will grow. HAVE COURAGE to use the atonement because it’s a huge gift to us. If we don’t use the atonement it just goes to waste and we are not showing Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ gratitude if we don’t use it. So have courage to use it even though we don’t like to admit that we are not perfect. We all have weaknesses that we are trying to overcome. I encouraged them to BE KIND to everyone… No matter who people are we have to love them. I shared some of my personal experiences, then shared a story from the conference talk “Latter Day Saints Keep Trying”.. It was about a missionary, one who seemed to do everything right and got a lot of praise. He got put with a companion who struggled… a little slower and less excited to do the work. This "so called perfect Elder" kept praying to Heavenly Father, “why did you put me with this Elder?...I really want to serve hard and my companion isn’t doing anything.” The thought came to him that from Heavenly Father’s perspective we are all exactly the same. No matter who we are, we are all loved the same. We shouldn’t judge people, nor be mean to people.
Afterwards the sister sitting by me leaned over and said, “That was a slap in the face, but I needed that, thank you.” I really wanted to prepare well for this talk and so I put a lot of effort and prayer into it. Heavenly Father just made it all work out. I prayed that he would touch the people that needed to be touched through whatever I shared. Two Elders came up to me personally, one on one, to tell me thank you and that they really needed my talk that day and that it was really good. Phew! I did it! Thank you Heavenly Father. I was very happy that it turned out well. SO… always remember to HAVE COURAGE AND BE KIND.
Love you all!

Fun Run!
Our Elementary held it's first annual fun run.
I got to help on the planning committee.
Here I am the night before with some neighbor ladies placing the arrow markers along the route.
This was as entertaining as the event itself.
You could walk/run 1.5 or 3 miles...
It was super fun participating with the kids.
We celebrated Earth Day!
With pudding cups and doing yard work.
{idea from marcicoombs.com}
Hannah was so sick with cold/cough crud she was just standing there for moral support...
{cuz some of my kids would rather do just about anything other than yard work.}
;)
YW/YM Spaghetti Dinner and Auction!
The Youth raised over $3, 000!
We have such an awesome, supportive ward.
Some random...
Kindergarten cuties!
catch'in up time over lunch!
Dance shoe shopping with Hannah.
{I don't think she's worn heels a day in her life.}
She's decided to just wear a pair of Kyleigh's.
{Kyleigh would get such a kick out of all of this. If she were here.}
Let's just say Hannie's been practicing walking... ;)
My favorites from this week!
I die.
{The cuteness just kills me.}
Speaking of the Royals...
What true royal watcher would not remember the epic wedding that took place 5 years ago tomorrow?
{actually Emma had to remind me. haha}
It's cause to celebrate a tiny bit.
British style.
Which we ARE going to do.
My new favorite snack!
...Rice crackers, with turkey pepperoni and carrot chips.
Sounds so weird, but such a tasty triple combination.
There are very few things that my WHOLE family LOVES to eat.
Fully cooked pepperoni straight from the bag just happens to be one of them.
It's always on the grocery list.
Porch Pillows!
I'm a little obsessed with decor pillows. I love to switch up the ones on the porch when the seasons change. My current Spring-y Summer ones make me smile :)
