A little blast from the past!
They had spirit week at the high school recently...Each day of the week there was a theme and you could dress up....Tourist Tuesday....Throwback Thursday etc. For the latter Kyleigh wanted to throw it back to my high school days... so out came my pep club and class sweaters from my hope chest. Kyleigh ended up wearing my pep club sweater to school. {She is so brave!} Emma wore my Sr. class of '90 sweater. She happened to reach in the pocket of my Jr. class sweater and found an old Skor candy bar wrapper and a school check-out slip from 1989! What a find. The note was excusing me to plan for Prom. The teacher that signed for it was Mr. Drake, he was our Student Government advisor and he also taught me College Writing my Sr. year. What is even cooler is that Mr. Drake is still at the high school.. some 24+ years later... and Kyleigh has him first period for AP English. You can guess what she was showing him the next day. He wanted to pin it to his bulletin board, but Kyleigh told him I wanted it back. haha {Stuff like this is priceless to me...memories people.}
On a side note do you know how weird it is to go to Parent Teacher Conferences or the counseling office and visit with teachers that taught YOU, and now they are teaching your kids? {I just think where in the hay has the time gone.} Kyleigh's school counselor, Mr. Kener, happens to be another old teacher of mine, and was one of my favorites!...He oversaw the newspaper staff and taught Journalism. I was in that class with some of my best friends, and I'm pretty darn sure I was goofing off and talking way more than staying on task....He used to tell me TO STOP DINK'ING AROUND! {Looks like he was the one dink'in around in this pic...Mr. Kener with my friends, Juli and Paul...}
What is even more wild is that Mr. Kener has a son, who happens to be the Student Body President at Murray, Kyleigh's age obviously, and they are friends. Who would have thought back then that we'd have kids the same age that went to school together.
