Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 51 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning décor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, and yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows; Hannity and Dave Ramsey Talk Radio. I very much miss Rush Limbaugh! I hate when my kids have homework. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time, and believe it or not so is intermittent fasting. I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

Playing Catch Up with my camera roll...

This was Kate in her nerd glasses on the 24th of July! {Yep, I'm behind.} We had a neighborhood gathering down the street. Had a little firework show. Love those summer nights visiting with neighbors and kiddos running around.

The neighbor kids had a hey day taking turns riding in the recycling garbage can. {sure hope that can is cleaner than the normal garbage can}

Emma was in the Pioneer Parade up in Bountiful

Our little summer science experiment....We had butterflies growing at our house...

That is my Emmsie!  Emma ended up having ONE more adventure outing with the 4th yr girl's in the Stake. They rock climbed, did archery, had a camp out, and then floated down the Provo River the next day. I wanted to go on this trip. How fun! She and one other girl were the only two brave enough to climb up this high. She said it was SCARY!

It was National S'more Day the day she came home..We made a welcome home treat for her...a car s'more! We did a little experiment to see how long it took the sun to melt the chocolate. It's been such a stink'in hot summer! Found Stackermallows...marshmallows that are already flat. SO convenient.

Spread the national s'more day cheer with an elderly neighbor........

More s'more yummyness....cuz we are fat like that!

Even tried out a new s'more cookie recipe

Kate had so much fun on the slip n slide at our neighborhood ward picnic. The Relief Society was in charge again this year.  We put on a spread...sloppy joes, corn on the cob, baked beans, chips, a variety of salads, homemade root-beer, and ice cream sandwiches. I had a tremendous amount of help. Delegation is key. I put each auxiliary in charge of something and the party for 275-300 people goes off without a hitch. Love my ward.

The firemen came and sprayed the kids. They love it!

Glad my girl's get invited to birthday parties to places like this so I don't have to take them. Isn't that awful? I'm not a fan of water parks.

Going to visit Daddy at work.  Kyleigh and Emma volunteered again up at LDS Hospital this summer. Kyleigh on Thursday afternoons and Emma Tuesday afternoons. Emma worked in the gift shop and Kyleigh in Hyperbaric. We were able to go up and eat lunch with the girls and dad a couple of times.

Run'in to meet daddy in the hall.

Last day of volunteering for Emma and one of her best friends. Took them to a new ice cream shop downtown. They serve pieshakes!

Emma got her driving permit! The day she passed I took her to Kneeders for breakfast. She loves to drive. She and I have been on several driving adventures together...

Hannah's favorite Sunday meal is chicken cordon bleu. She helps grandma and daddy make it.

Dance has started up again!

Parents get to stay for class the first week...It's fun to watch. This year Hannah will be dancing three nights a week...

Kyleigh trying to read her AP English book. It's Frankenstein. She hates it.

We got doorbell ditched at 11:25 one night. Four of Kyleigh's guy friends sent her on some goose chase following string over to the park...Was she being asked to Homecoming or what? It was weird. It didn't happen this night but a few nights later. {that's a whole other post tho} Dance drama has begun again and school hasn't even started.

Emma and her band had their annual concert in the park...As of this month Emma is now the proud owner of her own set of pipes.

We had the funnest cookout up at the Spruces with the neighbor ladies and our daughters....

I had a mom and me Achievement Day activity with Brie. We went downtown to the Children's History Museum and then lunch at the Nauvoo Cafe.

Me and Emmsie love to put together birthday gifts for her friends. Her best friend just had her birthday this past week.

New season of Duck Dynasty! We are huge fans.  This poster adorns the back of our office door. We even have a Si cup {only pink} and Duck Dynasty band aides...haha. Love Phil and Kaye. They are my favorites. We were going to have some target shooting in honor of the new season starting up but Dad couldn't find grandpa's old bee bee gun in the attic. Boo.

We are going to be spending quite a bit of time in this lobby...Emma started allergy shots. She's getting the cluster shots for the first four rounds. She'll get a shot...wait 20 min, get a second shot, wait another 20 min and then get a third one. Then we wait 1/2 hr to make sure she doesn't have an allergic reaction. She is the proud owner of a Epi pen. Eventually it will go to a shot a week, to a shot every two weeks and then a shot a month. This will be the case for 5 years! {Yep. You read that right.} Here she is trying to get into her summer reading assignment for her Honors English class. The book is Death Comes to the Archbishop. It might just be the death of Emmsie. She can't stand her book either.

Registered Emmsie for highschool! Goodness me. Can't believe it.

Back to School Night at the Junior High for Hannah...

A girlfriend of mine and her husband were able to adopt the two foster girls they were caring for. Went to the temple to see the girls sealed to their parents. AMAZING.

You should see the Senior Year bucket list Kyleigh and her girlfriends have made. One item on the list is to hold a tarantula. A boy at school owns one. Why on earth? Mission was accomplished. They can now check it off their list.

18,000 fans outside Rockefeller Plaza= the One Direction concert on the Today Show. We love it!

Me and girlfriends went to the premiere of Austenland last night. Shannon Hale, author of the book was there for a Q and A.  Her parents were there to see the film . It was fun to run into her dad. He was my OB GYN for years. My mother-in-law was his nurse. Dr. Bryner retired to be a mission president right after I had Brie. He delivered four of my babies. {Love that guy!}

Anyhow, love the book too.  Movie is hilarious. Miss Charming steals the show!

Cannot believe the end of summer is here. no, no, no! Bracing ourselves for the first day of school...on MONDAY.

  1. So did the neighborhood ladies and your daughters burn their bras up the canyon since they couldn't do it at girls' camp? :)
