Kid rundown...
Kyleigh went to Florida for Nationals! I happened to be at the school for Parent Teacher Conferences the night before she left so I was able to see the poster and their lockers decorated so cute!
She was blowing bye bye kisses to Kate in the car...She was gone for dad's and Kate's birthdays :(
She was having a big par-tay of her own!...
It was fun to see the trip through her eyes by the pictures she took. {Although she didn't take a lot. She is not a picture-taker like me.} She got stuck going to Animal Kingdom first. Cracked me up because that is probably the last place she would have chosen to visit upon arriving at Disney World.
They had one day of competition {they took 2nd place overall!} and three days at Disney World/ Universal...It took her half the trip and the day after competition before she really started to relax and enjoy herself. She got a bit homesick. A lot of the girls had their moms or family members with them so that part was not easy for Kyleigh. She said Disney is such a family thing that it was strange to be in Disney World and not have my family with me. Awe....
She's always been a huge Harry Potter fan so she loved loved the Harry Potter Theme Park at Universal. One of the highlights of the trip for her!
butter beer!
Hollywood Studios...
It was interesting to hear the differences in some of the rides in Disney World compared to Disneyland. {I haven't been to Disney World since I was ten so I hardly remember anything about it.} Tower of Terror was one of them. She loved this ride!
Dr. Seuss Land! I didn't even know one existed!
Met up with Curious George!
This character find was her favorite tho by far!
She has always had a thing for Peter Pan.
And in comparing the two parks...She said it was fun to experience Disney World... but for her, Disneyland is the happiest place on earth!
She brought home some cute souvenirs...for family and friends......a candied apple for me...One of my favorite treats...
This sign, meant to be just a note on a paper plate, provided some embarrassment and a few giggles. I made it and placed it by the treats that grandma had left for Kyleigh on the table for when she arrived home from her trip. She wasn't getting in til late late. {We were all going to be in bed asleep by the time she got home} Dad was picking her up at the airport along with Boy #5. Well... dad thought I'd made the sign for them to take to the airport to hold up as she was coming off the plane!! For reals??? Too funny. I didn't say one word to him about taking it to the airport! I only told him it was on the table for her with the treats. He just assumed that I wanted it taken to the airport because it seemed like something I'd do. Yes, probably...but not to my 17 yr old! I don't intentionally do things to humiliate her. haha. Dad was too embarrassed to hold it up so he made Boy #5 do it. {he sheepishly did.} Kyleigh saw it and was like "what the heck"? Do I know you people? Embarrassing, but funny!
She was so glad to be home, the trip was fun but not so fun when this week was total cram time...making up for all the school work missed while she was gone. Early mornings at the school and after school making up tests, essays...up in the night trying to get homework finished. It's been tough. Besides all that we are approaching end of term when things always get hairy for her. Yesterday I found her conked out by her favorite spot in the house, the fireplace, exhausted from it all.
What's even funnier is I go upstairs and find Emma dead asleep on the floor in the front room!.. {Kids are dropping right and left.} The time change this week did not help us. Emmsie was exhausted from her day and fed up from the new wagon she was trying to assemble for Kate and cousin Taylor.
She cracks me up. I love hearing her stories from school. She was in geography class the other day and they were doing a worksheet where they had to find different countries. She could hear several classmates asking "where's Scotland"? "Where's Scotland"? {She's thinking to herself, "are you freaking kidding me? You don't know where Scotland is"?} And then one kid was saying something about the bagpipes and Ireland and how the guys that play them wear skirts {ummm...that would be a kilt buddy!...} It makes Emmsie's blood boil when people don't know stuff that you are supposed to know when you are 15!}
My Hannie was recently Student of the Week at the Junior High for 7th graders. She had all A's at Parent Teacher Conferences. So proud of her... can't even tell ya!
We got to visit dad and have lunch with him at work. Hannah had to interview him for a job shadow assignment for her CTE class at school.
Hannah's Young Women's advisor gave a lesson recently on loved ones that have departed. She asked for a picture of Hannah and her Grandpa. I gave her a picture of the two of them taken at Disneyland in Jan 2006, in front of Grandpa's favorite place in the park..The Golden Horseshoe. Hannie was 5 1/2 yrs old. Her teacher gave her this keepsake...so sweet!
I love reading about your family! You are the greatest mom and your girls are just awesome!
