Goodness
me people, I think I need grief counseling! I could have had a full out
sob fest last night during and after Downton. The happenings of last night didn't come as a shock or anything, I knew beforehand what was going to happen. But still!
I tried to prepare myself, but when I was crying after last week’s episode knowing what was going to happen on the season finale last night…. I knew I wasn’t going to get through this casually.... Seriously people why? why? why ? Why Matthew?
Darn hard to pick an absolute favorite Downton character because they are all so good, but Matthew and Mary were up there on my list, if not on top... next to Grandma Violet. They even made my all-time list of favorite period drama couples …sitt’in there with the likes of Mr. Darcy & Elizabeth, Edward & Elinor, and Margaret and Mr. Thornton. Now Matthew is freak’in dead. {Dagger in the heart.}

You
know what this reminds me of? THE THORNBIRDS!! I watched that mini series
almost 20 years ago in our little apartment in California. I cried like a baby
when that show ended the way it did. Even Jaren remembers me boob’in my eyes
out. I will never watch that show again because of it. {I actually have a list
of shows never to watch again..haha}
Even though it would be lovely to have Downton on forever, you know what I wish? I wish the producers, when they knew {after season 2} that Dan Stevens would not be renewing his contract after Season 3, that they would have wrapped up everyone’s story line in THIS season, not have a Season 4 and just have the series END HAPPY! Before they killed off Matthew. {I think Sybil dying was enough grief for Downton fans } How can one possibly enjoy watching the whole series again knowing the heartache that is going to happen? It ruins it Mr. Julian Fellowes..at least for me! Even my little Hannie was like "and why did he have to die?"
I tried drowning my grief in angel food cake, nutella sauce and whip cream. But can’t say it helped too much. And then the thought of waiting a whole year for Season 4...that they have to have without Matthew! Gosh darn it people, it's killing me!
