My little sweetheart, Emma Abigail, became a teenager. {almost two weeks ago!} So I figured it was high time I blog about it. I love good teenagers. And I just happen to adore this one! I must say her actual birthday day was a tad bit crappy. Grandpa passed away late the night before on {once upon a time Emma's favorite holiday}... Valentines. She so deserved a day as wonderful as she is.. but we were all in a funk. I managed to make one of her favorite dishes for dinner and the YW brought her a red velvet birthday cake that night so I held off {for a few days} on the Valentiney waffle brownie creation I was going to make to celebrate. Luckily she had done some fun things leading up to her special day so it wasn't a complete bomb. But it was close. The week prior she and I went on a shopping spree for her requested birthday gift...clothes. She and a close friend went to see Gnomeo and Juliet. Daddy and I took her out to dinner at her restaurant of choice...Wingers. Where its all about the Asphalt Pie. Have you had that honk'in piece of goodness? Our favorite dessert. period. The next day we went with some of our extended family to the BYU vs. Utah b-ball game in Provo. The Marriott Center was rock'in. {Way too fun!} We had Sunday dinner with the fam in her honor and then we had the V-day sweet shoppe surprise. So all in all some happy moments. The pic above is the latest pic I have of her which was taken at Grandpa's viewing. Shes a bit teary eyed but I think it makes it even more priceless.
Here are some pics of Grandpa's graveside service. This is my favorite pic of the day, if its possible to have a favorite pic under the grim circumstances.
Our Scottish neighbor on the bagpipes playing the Hymn "How Great Thou Art"
The funeral weather was bleak, cold and rainy...like you see in the movies, just minus all the black clothing. I believe the heavens were weeping with us.
We put together a display table at the viewing..that was completely HIM. He was a true horseman through and through. There was a steady stream of people for almost 4 hours that came to pay their respects. He was loved by so many.
Happy Birthday to Emma & Kyleigh!! They are both such beautiful girls!! Sorry to hear about their grandpa passing away. I love how you put together that display table, such a great way to pay tribute to him.
