Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 51 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning décor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, and yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows; Hannity and Dave Ramsey Talk Radio. I very much miss Rush Limbaugh! I hate when my kids have homework. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time, and believe it or not so is intermittent fasting. I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

A little first week of school fashion for ya and

More first day of school photos...a little late getting these posted but a week ago last Monday there was a awful wind storm in our area that resulted in a power outage at 3:30 A.M. It lasted 4 hours! What timing for those trying to get ready for the first day of school. Especially for 9th grade girls! Of course Kyleigh was wigg'in...girlfriends in the neighborhood were texting to see if ANYONE had power. DRAMA. Sorry K but it was quite humorous watching you do your hair and makeup by lantern and flashlight! That one is going into the memory bank. No blow dryer, hair straightener, 3 barrel roll, iron, whats a girl to do? You sure realize how dependant and grateful you are for electricity when the power goes out! Luckily Kyleigh had showered the night before but she ended up going to school with damp leggings. They were still in the washer with plans to throw them in the dryer that morning. Oops! Needless to say she kept quite cool all day. That was the only minor mishap other than her hair not styled the way she wanted. I thought she managed to pull herself together quite well in the dark. Of course the power came on just about the time she needed to leave. Luckily we didn't have to take pics in the dark!
Kyleigh had a game the first day of school. She made the high school tennis team as one of their JV players. There are 17 on the team, all are in High School, except for five who are in jr. high. Way to go Kyleigh! Tennis is 5 days a week..matches M/W/F and practices T/Th. You add that to her 4 days of dance and its brought more excitement and running around to our schedule than I ever imagined. The tennis season is only 6 wks long though so its doable. Its been crazy but fun. I get to pick her up from school everyday and rush her to practice or to the high school to catch the bus for her away games. She's enjoying it and has won her last two matches. YEAH! Just wish we didn't have to deal with the head coach. We are less than pleased with her. EVERYONE thinks she's a piece of work! And that is being nice. I could say much much more...but won't.

Hannah was excited to start the 5th grade! Got a pic on the playground with her best friend before the bell rang. Her cute juicy couture glasses disappeared a week before school started. What timing, as she needs them to see the whiteboard. She last had them at the end of summer cousin sleepover at my sisters. Both households can't find them anywhere! We made her pay for her new glasses with her own money. $82 bucks she forked over. Is that mean? Hope its taught her a lesson to keep better track of those suckers. Anyhow, she goes around squinting, she hopes her two new pair arrive soon to go with her new do. Hair was chopped the day after this pic was taken.

After seeing the kids off, eight ladies from the neighborhood went out for breakfast at Kneaders. We do it every year and its about the only thing I look forward to on the first day of school.

Miss B Olivia started Kindergarten a week later. Finally an excuse to start reading those Junie B. Jones chapter books again. Love those things! The first book is about Junie's first day of Kindergarten. B is enjoying listening to them as she can relate although she doesn't have to ride the stupid smelly bus like Junie does.

It was pouring rain the morning of B's first day. Luckily it stopped by the time we had to leave. I was quite pleased with myself that I and the three younger were ready on time and out the door that early without any major fiasco...its a feat I tell ya AND all in enough time to pick up a neighbor girl and take pictures.

kissing Baby Kate goodbye...die die die
Kate is going to miss all the attention from her sisters. So sad. Here is B waving goodbye as she heads into the school. I kept it together then but admit I shed a couple of tears when I got home. You'd think by the 4th it would be easier.

So its just me and Kate now in the mornings. So grateful I have her. She is getting so big way too fast! This babe is already wanting to stand. She has such strong legs and chunky thighs. She's pulling herself up in her crib and so close to crawling.

What's On My Happy List?

Je n'aime pas l'ecole
Well hello there blog! Its been awhile. Gone are the lazy days of summer around here where free time for me reigns supreme. My life and schedule has completely changed this week as the older kids have headed back to school. Boo. I miss their company, their help with the baby, chores, grocery shopping, you name it. Me and my vehicle are best friends now as it feels like I've spent the majority of the last three days in and out of the car. I'm not complaining though. Change in routine is good, but poor Kate. She's been lugged more times in these past few days than she has in her entire life, I'm sure of it. And we are just getting started. Next week we add dance to the routine. Nutso!

Since we have more places to be I'm now utilizing the calendar on my cell where each daily event is tagged with an alarm to remind me where I need to be...coming or going. Even though I'm pretty darn good at juggling seven schedules, sometimes the craziness of life consumes and you space it. I'm freaked I'll absentmindedly forget to pick a kid up somewhere! Its happened people. Ask Emma.

Speaking of Emma...she started Junior High last Friday. The 7th graders in our school district start a day earlier than everyone else so they can acclimate themselves to their new surroundings. And trust me, you need a day at our Junior High to find your way around! It's a maze in there with a ton of steps, different levels and sections.....and only five minutes to get from one class to the next! Try going from a classroom at the top of that school down to the bottom in less than five. Theres hardly time to go to your locker, or the restroom! It's intimidating for the adults let alone the sevies. I actually get a workout attending Back to School Night there. Add no air conditioning, with an inside temp of 100 degrees, swarms of people, inevitable problems with locker combination and I'm a goner! However, flashbacks of the movie "A Diary of A Wimpy Kid" kept me giggling to myself. Especially the line.."I'm not pooping til High School!"
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!

And btw, if you don't have that movie and would like it, I'm having a little giveaway...whoever is the first to figure out the French saying above and tell me in comments, will be the winner of that DVD!

Emma's an early morning riser now at 6:00 a.m. whether she likes it or not. NOT! Here she is the morning of the big day... before she left the house (I think she..ever prepared.. packed everything but the kitchen sink in her backpack) and here again waiting for the bus with girls in the neighborhood..this picture below cracks me up to see the height difference. Emma is currently 5 ft 5" and I believe still growing.

They looked so stink'in cute. They all showed up in gray outfits...must be the "in" color this year.

I could not wait for her to come home that first day to hear all about her adventure. She actually made out quite well. I was so proud of her. Her favorite memory was seeing one of the SBO's dangling duct taped to the wall!

What's On My Happy List?

SHOESDAY!
Oh rise and shout...
I'm so wishing I had these little BYU Mary Janes for Kate for the upcoming football season, but can't seem to find the size she needs. I first saw them last Friday

when Kyleigh and I, along with my brother and niece took our highly anticipated jaunt down to the Y. The football team's practice was open to the public so we went to watch, along with about 1,500 other diehards.

I tell ya it doesn't take much to make me happy. I thoroughly enjoyed myself just being there. My bro pointed out which football players I'd be in love with if I was 20 yrs younger. What a kick! He knows me too well. Kyleigh and my niece had a good time "checking" them boys out! I've moved on to the coaches..with permission from Jaren. Ha!

We walked the campus afterwards...

saw the sport's museum...reminisced about the old days.. when Detmer won the Heisman my Freshman yr at the Y.
We ate at the CougarEat, hit the infamous Creamery, shopped the Bookstore, showed the girls the Harold B. Lee Library where the BYU spoof of the Old Spice commercial was recently filmed

Drove by the stadium....can't wait for the football season to start!

Love this picture of the girls by the cougar mascot
They are already working towards their goal of going to BYU together...
You go girls!

What's On Our Happy List?

Bunch of random...
Trip to Scofield to ATV and play in the lake with neighbor and cousins...
Kyleigh's, you don't want to know, near ATV mishap...

Family Reunion on daddy's side in Farmington ...Kate wear'in wipes to cool off on that stink'in hot summer day at the park....

Cousin Sophia's 1st birthday bash on mommy's side

Kate and Sophia, exactly 7 months apart, with their pink tu tu's on
Kate was trying her darndest to give luvs to the birthday girl.
hanging with Grandma and Grandpa Bell

Candid shot of my brother and nephew, Matt. Like Father like Son...Matt happened to get his mission call that morning. Lots of celebrating in our family that day...Out of the numerous family guesses of where in the world he was going to serve, guess who guessed it right?
My Nana Bella. She guessed Peru. Spot on!
In other randomness...Emma has had her nose in a book all summer..She has not only read her required summer Honors English book but started reading the Work and the Glory series on July 14th...as of 4 weeks later she is half way thru book 7. Get out! Kyleigh has also had her required H.E. book to read..the 560 page (small print) Count of Monte Cristo. Which btw, happens to be one of our favorite movies of all time. Because of this she was initially excited to read the book but it happens to be NOTHING like the movie. She was quite disappointed. She enjoyed the book, which of course is much more detailed, but still prefers the movie.

She has worksheets to complete and they both have essays to write on their books due within the first week of school. Ugh! I don't know about you but that would ruin my summer. No wonder I didn't take Honors English.
