Je n'aime pas l'ecole
Well hello there blog! Its been awhile. Gone are the lazy days of summer around here where free time for me reigns supreme. My life and schedule has completely changed this week as the older kids have headed back to school. Boo. I miss their company, their help with the baby, chores, grocery shopping, you name it. Me and my vehicle are best friends now as it feels like I've spent the majority of the last three days in and out of the car. I'm not complaining though. Change in routine is good, but poor Kate. She's been lugged more times in these past few days than she has in her entire life, I'm sure of it. And we are just getting started. Next week we add dance to the routine. Nutso!
Since we have more places to be I'm now utilizing the calendar on my cell where each daily event is tagged with an alarm to remind me where I need to be...coming or going. Even though I'm pretty darn good at juggling seven schedules, sometimes the craziness of life consumes and you space it. I'm freaked I'll absentmindedly forget to pick a kid up somewhere! Its happened people. Ask Emma.
Speaking of Emma...she started Junior High last Friday. The 7th graders in our school district start a day earlier than everyone else so they can acclimate themselves to their new surroundings. And trust me, you need a day at our Junior High to find your way around! It's a maze in there with a ton of steps, different levels and sections.....and only five minutes to get from one class to the next! Try going from a classroom at the top of that school down to the bottom in less than five. Theres hardly time to go to your locker, or the restroom! It's intimidating for the adults let alone the sevies. I actually get a workout attending Back to School Night there. Add no air conditioning, with an inside temp of 100 degrees, swarms of people, inevitable problems with locker combination and I'm a goner! However, flashbacks of the movie "A Diary of A Wimpy Kid" kept me giggling to myself. Especially the line.."I'm not pooping til High School!"
H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S!
And btw, if you don't have that movie and would like it, I'm having a little giveaway...whoever is the first to figure out the French saying above and tell me in comments, will be the winner of that DVD!
Emma's an early morning riser now at 6:00 a.m. whether she likes it or not. NOT! Here she is the morning of the big day... before she left the house (I think she..ever prepared.. packed everything but the kitchen sink in her backpack) and here again waiting for the bus with girls in the neighborhood..this picture below cracks me up to see the height difference. Emma is currently 5 ft 5" and I believe still growing.
They looked so stink'in cute. They all showed up in gray outfits...must be the "in" color this year.
I could not wait for her to come home that first day to hear all about her adventure. She actually made out quite well. I was so proud of her. Her favorite memory was seeing one of the SBO's dangling duct taped to the wall!

ReplyDeletePS. Courtney you know is in the 8th grade...she has a picture of herself on her phone wearing this "necklace sign" that reads....'I am missing valuable learning time right now because I have to use the potty!" I thought that was hilarious!
