We scheduled to celebrate the Relief Society's birthday a couple of weeks early so that I could make sure I was in attendance. With the baby coming early, its a good thing we did. I was so glad to be there that night, two plus weeks ago, as it was such a delightful evening spent with the sisters in our ward. Our theme evolved around purses...from the invites to decor to this fabulous cake. I so love purses! Seriously, I'm surprised I didn't go into labor when I saw the cake..Have you seen anything cuter? Kudos to my friend Cathy, the fabulous cake maker, and to my 2nd counselor, Enrichment leader and assistant who did such an amazing job putting the evening together. I hardly had to do a thing!
Table of bags/purses
Our enrichment leader gave an inspirational message about the importance of each purse/bag that we use and how it symbolizes the different stages of our lives...the little girl play purse to the school bag to temple bag and so forth. We had everyone bring their purses...we weighed them and gave out prizes for the heaviest and lightest...we played an enlightening "What is in your purse?" game that produced some great laughs.
We also had the sisters play the "Baby Cooper" game where they had to guess the sex, day born, how long in labor, weight, etc. of the baby. The sister who came the closest won this PINK purse that I bought as the prize.
Little did we know I was only a day and a half away from giving birth!
It was a fun evening. What a privilege to be a part of the world's largest organization for women. I'm so grateful for the legacy and sisterhood that the Relief Society provides. Happy Birthday!
Kate at two weeks....
