Kate had five blood checks this week and was under the lights on and off for two days with her jaundice..The highest her billi count got was just under 17. Once they hit 20 they are hospitalized, so we are grateful we didn't have to go down that path and we were able to get it under control.
Here is Brie watching over her little sister....
My recovery has been anything but normal for me...I was hoping getting the baby out would help my lower back pain but not so...it is still whacked out and it is very difficult and uncomfortable for me to even walk normally. The swelling in my legs has not changed much either so the doctor told me to get off my feet and elevate them above my heart. Tried doing that on and off for two days without much improvement. The doctor ordered a doppler test today to check for blood clots in my veins. Good news is there isn't any, just water retention. The doctor could give me a diuretic but it would dry up my milk supply. I'm already not producing as much milk this time around so going on a water pill is not an option. Having a few breast feeding issues to say the least. Earlier in the week I was having some flu like symptoms. Didn't know if a breast infection was coming on but nothing came of it.Thank goodness. Kate gets so frustrated at the breast though that I'm pumping and supplementing with formula. She seems to like both but hoping to have better luck in the breastfeeding department since I usually breastfeed until the cows come home..like 18 months! Crazy I know.
If that isn't enough...For whatever reason my blood pressure is higher than when I was pregnant which is probably causing the headaches I've had this week. Seriously. You add the bleeding and sleep deprivation and I feel like I'm falling apart. LOL What a week! Postpartum recovery stinks. I so hope to feel better soon. I want to get out shopping for this new little one!
The joys of motherhood!!!Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteYou seriously feel like you've been hit by a truck after having a baby! I remember doing the lights with my babies and it wasn't their favorite thing in the world either.
