What's on my Happy List Today?
UTAH HAS GONE A BIT SWEDISH- IKEA, the Swedish home-furnishings giant known for clean, hip, modern design has opened its 310, 000-square foot store in Draper. This store offers 10,000 home furnishings, displayed in 51 complete room settings and three model homes. WOW! It also includes a 300-seat Swedish restaurant, bistro and food market. YUMMY! This will be the first IKEA in the Rocky Mountain region and one of very few away from the U.S. coasts. Having been to an IKEA when we lived in California and with my love for interior design, I'm just a little excited about having the world's leading home furnishings retailer so close....BUT was I crazy enough to go on opening day? NO! Not when customers had been camping out since Monday waiting for the doors to open on Wednesday. I didn't brave the thousands that stormed the store on opening day but stay tuned for when I do!
I LOVE A GOOD SURPRISE- We surprised Hannah today with a little birthday celebration at her school. She is a summer baby, so when you are one of those you get to pick any day before school is out to celebrate your birthday with your class. I picked today and she had no idea that we were coming....SO FUN! You usually just bring a simple treat for the class to enjoy, which we did, but we wanted to do something extra special so we took the kids out on the playground to do a pinata. A fun time was had by all.
The froggy pinata after it lost its
head and cute froggy legs...
The birthday surprises are becoming a little bit of a
tradition as we did the same thing for Emma when she
had this same teacher two years ago....here she is in her
moment of surprise...
And for Kyleigh that year.... the family surprised
her at the ice-cream parlor after her birthday party
at the Beauty Shop.....the looks on their faces in
these moments of surprise are priceless to me!

I highly recommend the Ikea .$99 breakfast! Not to mention the child-friendly atmosphere, and Pepsi on tap! We go once a month whether we need anything or not. (And "need" is really relative anyway.) It does remind me a bit of Costco though, in the sense that you go in needing nothing, and come out with $100 worth of... what?
