Here's whats happening in our neck of the woods. Its been cold, cold and windy windy windy... like I'm going to blow you over kind of wind... Just ask me and Kate who were out earlier today trying to run errands before the snow fell. I'm surprised we came out of it still vertical. We've been urged all day to prepare for blizzard like conditions for late afternoon. The approaching snow storm has even caused some schools to postpone classes and activities... They even cancelled forty five season opener high school basketball games in the valley tonight. We didn't have dance. People were warned to leave work early to get home before the storm hit. The forecaster from the National Weather Service warned us to hunker down and wait it out because its going to be that significant. There was a forty car pile up in Logan. The temp dropped 12 degrees in 20 min. at the SLC Airport. So there have been signs of it but were not seeing it here in our stomping grounds.
I just took this pic out our front a few minutes ago and I'm thinking, "Did we wait all day for this?" This is noth'in! So far, Sunday morning's storm was worse. But maybe we haven't seen the brunt of it yet. We'll see what the middle of the night brings. I hope the hype wasn't all for naught as I do love me a good storm. I cooked a pot of chicken and rice soup for dinner and we are hunkering down regardless. Call in the hot chocolate.
If we do get snowed in, I know we will have plenty of apples to eat as we have apples coming out of our ears. Even the store clerk at Harmons couldn't help comment on our apple purchase. We had an apple tasting contest for Family Night the other night. Why, I don't know other than it seemed like a Fall'ish activity to do.
We had eight different kinds to taste and then we had to rate them, all in an effort to find our favorite kind of apple. It was tasty.
The kids enjoyed it...even if an apple sticker was partially consumed...My three favorite side kicks with sliced apples...caramel, peanut butter and my new favorite... hummus...love that stuff!
The baby even goes down on it....
I make a mean apple peanut butter flower. Brie thinks they are delightful and requests them often for lunch.
The results from our taste testing....OUR FAVORITE APPLE
