Fourth of July celebrations- I was in charge of our 2nd annual neighborhood/ward ice-cream social over at the park this week. The scouts surround the park with a ton of flags like the one pictured above. It always makes for a beautiful sight! The kids had a great time eating ice-cream and cookies with the neighbor kids and playing in the sand, walking the tight rope and doing our traditional fireworks on our street after.
We enjoyed the parade the morning of the Fourth, going to see the new Pixar film Ratatouille ,(the cutest dang movie about two of my passions in life...Paris and food..how could I not like it?)

and seeing our city's awesome fireworks display that night. It was a great day!
A get-together with Girlfriends- My friend, who lives in Houston, was in Utah this week for a visit. We had a great time visiting and watching a video tour of her new home in Texas. She has an awesome talent for interior decorating so it was so fun to see what a beautiful home she has created for her family. After we took all of our kids (eighteen in total) to lunch! Can you say crazy!
Wedding Bells- The doorbell rang at 11:30 Monday night, and with it came the deliverance of some happy news from my sister-in-law as she announced her engagement. Her finance is an awesome guy and will make a great addition to our extended family. My two favorite things about him...he cooks, not only for my sister-in-law but for us too AND he is European!!! They left for two week trip to Portugal yesterday so she can be introduced to his family and homeland. His family lives five minutes away from the Mediterranean. How flipp'in cool is that?!?!?! Congrats to D!

My avid reader- Kyleigh, pictured here with my friend's baby, has read about fifteen books this summer so far. She's read all these four good sized ones just this week. This kid can read on a 12th grade level even though she is just going into the 6th grade. She amazes me! I had to post this pic because she is not showing off her new braces that she just got put on the day before.
Whaaat? Uncle "Pooper" has not been keeping me up on the good family news. Congrats to D! That is very exciting indeed.
ReplyDeleteIn his defense, I guess he didn't have much time to elaborate on family member's personal lives when he was visiting. As we kept him quite occupied devulging the details of his own for 48 hours straight.
