Bonjour!

Bonjour!
I’m a 51 year old mother of five amazing daughters and wife to a caring, sensitive AND sexy husband. I adore my family. I’m dedicated to my faith. I enjoy a good laugh. I'm nostalgic and love to reminisce. "Remember" is my favorite word in the English language. I love life! I’m passionate about music, food and {dreams of} traveling the world. I wanna be a castle and waterfall chaser. I’m fascinated with anything European. {PARIS! Hello!} I love celebrating anything and everything! I love to read, especially a good biography, mystery, Regency Era Romance or Historical fiction novel. I love thoughtful gift giving. To me the gift wrap is almost as important as the gift itself. I have a bit of an obsession with gift boxes and gift bags. As well as old world maps & globes, apothecary bottles and jars! I love being creative…bolts of ribbon, coordinating scrapbook papers, producing a table scape, or planning décor for a themed party puts a smile on my face. I love the details! I’m a freak for anything theme oriented. I enjoy event planning, but oddly enough do not like to host or entertain. I enjoy fashion, but have to really be in the mood to clothes shop. I love purses and funky costume jewelry. Especially big rings! I’d rather wear wedges or heels any day than flats. I enjoy decorating and searching for the perfect decorative pillow or picture. However, you’ll never see me frequent high-end stores. I'm more of a Ross, TJ Maxx, Tuesday Morning kind of gal. My favorite decor style is an old world rustic Italian chateau/Spanish Villa look with a hint of bohemian! OR a vintage shabby chic French country cottage/English cobblestone farmhouse. My #1 cookie-Molasses! Autumn is my favorite season. I’d go through childbirth a million times. I enjoy biking with my man, Pilates, and power walking. You’ll never find me in a gym working out. I love movies, whether watching them in the theatre or cuddled up on the couch with my family. I enjoy a good chick flick or real life drama! I'm a sucker for movies on the Hallmark & Great American Family Channel. I have a tender heart for the elderly. I adore Disneyland. I enjoy being in the canyon on a summer or fall evening at dusk. I love my friends. While I have some extroverted characteristics. I’m a self proclaimed introvert. I’m generally quiet, calm, reserved and pretty darn private. Why in the heck do I blog? It’s a creative way to record family history. I enjoy photography. I really don’t like to write, although I write in my journal often. My journals, patriarchal blessing, scriptures, quote book, and beloved Christmas tree filled with ornaments of family memories are among my prized possessions. I love the beach. I enjoy WWII history. I love a clean, orderly house, but ours usually looks lived in. ;) PBS Masterpiece is my friend. I adore Jane Austen films. They transport me to another time and place. If I had to choose another time period in which to live, early 19th Century England would be my pick. "Sense and Sensibility" is my all time favorite movie. My 3 favorite TV series are...BBC's Larkrise to Candleford, the 1950's Spanish Drama "Velvet," and the travel/food show "Somebody Feed Phil." My biggest pet peeve is people who blow their noses in public. So gross! {Take it to the bathroom people.} I’d go on a wine tasting vacation if it wasn’t against my religion. I’ve always wanted to adopt a baby from a foreign country. I’m an avid BYU football fan. I'm a Educational Support Professional. I tutor elementary kids in phonemic awareness, phonics, reading, fluency and comprehension. I love our campfires at Scofield Lake. I have a 'thing' for fairy gardens, Gallic French roosters, fresh flowers in a vase, pretty bowls & plates, and yummy smelling candles & soap. I love summer rainstorms and warm baths. I'm a scripture podcast fanatic. I'm also a fan of several Fox News shows; Hannity and Dave Ramsey Talk Radio. I very much miss Rush Limbaugh! I hate when my kids have homework. I'd rather clean 20 toilets than give a talk or prayer in church. I have quite a collection of Madame Alexander Dolls, children's books, Disney pins, and quotes. My favorite quote is "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak & notice more than you realize." True True LOL! I always prefer sitting in a back row versus the front. {I'm sort of a seat snob..yikes} I also have high expectations for my lemonade, salsa, and french fries too. HA! I work well behind the scenes. I love a good Dateline, 20/20 or 48 Hour Mystery. I’m a night owl. I'd rather be cold than hot. I love to budget our finances! I enjoy being a chauffeur to my children. I'm not a huge fan of social media. I don't snap, pin or tweet. All I want for Christmas every year is a ticket to the Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert. It's my FAVORITE. I’m an Anglophile…a royal watcher who loves anything English! Especially tea parties! I would like to serve a church mission to England with Jaren someday. I'm queen of paper towel, used kitchen dishrags and sponges kinda make me squirm. You’ll rarely find me out of the house not ready for the day, except when driving the kids to school on the days I don't work. I feel naked without lipstick or lip gloss. Mismatched socks, chipped fingernail polish, chapped lips and brownie crumbs on the floor drive me nuts! I like to organize and BE organized..but not saying I always am. ;) I enjoy hiking to waterfalls, ATV’ing with my family and snowshoeing with the hubs. Although I enjoy collecting recipes and occasionally watch cooking shows... (Sandra Lee Semi-Homemade, Paula Deen, Jamie Oliver, and the Pioneer Woman are my favorites) I’d rather not cook. Eating out is so much more fun. I'm a foodie. I live to EAT! LOL Trying new foods and restaurants is a favorite past-time, and believe it or not so is intermittent fasting. I'm not good at a lot of things... but gosh, if you need help with a themed celebration or someone to enjoy good food with, I'm your girl. I love the joy of anticipation and the celebration of holidays. Family traditions are important to me. I'm a memory preserver. I'm a pathological picture taker ;) a visual storyteller, and a lover of happy lists!

What's On My Happy List?

Oh Gosh! Our Vegas trip did not disappoint! What a hoot!

The night before we left we decorated our cars....They sorta became famous as people were taking pictures of them as we drove on the highway...

Some of my pics are posting sideways and I'm not sure why....sorry!

While decorating the cars Kyleigh got a call from grandma who was in a layover in San Fran on her way home from a two week trip in Europe. She was checking to make sure we hadn't left on our trip to Vegas yet. While she was in Liverpool, England she picked up gobs of One Direction t-shirts for us. freak out
  There were 13 of us on the trip! 3 adults and 10 tween/teenagers. One car headed out a day early so they missed the caravan down...One of Kyleigh's guy friends, who has lived in Vegas, kept saying we were going to get our cars broken into with making them stand out like we did. Actually it was my friend who headed down a day early and didn't decorate her car was the one that got   broken into our first night there...shattered window, portable DVD player stolen. It was such a mess for her to have to deal with on vacation. darn it.

 Emma remedying a little poster malfunction......

A stop for frozen custard in St. George...

We stayed in the Tahiti All-Suite Resort. We were so lucky to even find a descent place to stay down there that not only would accommodate our numbers but was off the strip and non casino. Many places we looked into were booked as there was some major happenings going on in Vegas that weekend.  Some to sleazy to mention.

Out for Metro Pizza!

 Driving home from dinner that night...one of the highlights of the trip for sure.... Chasing down the car flying the British flags and the encounter with the guy in the intersection made it to the top of the trip Happy List for Emma. HILARIOUS!

The second night after the concert we went to In n Out.  We were all exhausted!! It was past midnight at that point and we were finally getting around to having dinner. While eating, these two below, Morgan and my Hannah, start telling me this story from the concert about this dude named Jeffrey Clark. I was in complete stitches.
I was laughing so dang hard AND loud!
{could. not. help. it.}
 I swear people must have thought I was drunk.
One of Hannah's {and mine} favorite moments from the trip.
Poolside!

Part of the pools had beach sand at the bottom. We pretended we had gone to the San Diego concert instead. ;)

Wish I could have had a few more moments of this!
 On concert day, Kyleigh got a text from one of her girlfriends who happened to be driving home from California with her family. She saw the One Direction Tour Bus on the road heading to Vegas. Girls were in a complete frenzy! Up to this point there was a lot of speculation as to where the band may be, not here yet? already in the city? in their hotel? out sightseeing??? etc. Now we knew they hadn't even arrived yet....Thus, it became our mission for the rest of the afternoon to track down the tour bus and heaven forbid land a band sighting! We went to Planet Hollywood where the concert was being held that night. Out front we met a girl from Seattle who had flown in for the concert and had an extra ticket to sell to us. We needed that ticket as Heather didn't have one. Talk about being in the right spot at the right time. I'm telling you....Tender Mercy....we were being looked after! Even in sin city where people party half naked. The church is true, ya'll!
 We were on a goose chase dragging 10 kids through the casino, searching doors and exits we shouldn't have been..

and after winding our way through a mall we found ourselves in this parking garage were four big semi trucks were blocking our view...it did not deter us...

The band had not arrived at this point but their drummer Josh had, who from the reception he received seems to be as popular as One Direction... The drummer took a pic of our crowd crouched down trying to sneak a peek...

We waited and waited and waited and tried to weasel information out of the security guards..Leslie was so good at that! As time went on quite a crowd had gathered. {Can I just mention it was so blasting hot outside.}

And we waited all that time for this...

Noth'in! so disappointing...other than we did eventually see the tour bus. So a shout out for that! Not quite as exciting when the people we want to see aren't actually inside of it. We were maybe 20 yards {are you kidding me?} from seeing the band enter the building that was to our right but blocked from our view...the people to the left of us...screaming...they were the lucky ones!

This was the extent of our sight seeing...from our car, but we actually didn't mind. One daughter of mine had no interest whatsoever in walking the strip. So it was all good!

We rushed back and got ready for the concert!  Kyleigh in her Lou-ie pants!

 These girls were stoked! {All of us were to be completely honest!}

Hannah was decked out in her One Direction stuff that Grandma brought her back from England and the British bracelet her best friend gave her for her birthday....

I couldn't wear pink underwear {haha} so I wore my pink shoes in honor of Harry.

Daddy sent this text to us of Brie, back at home, who found some duct tape at the bottom of this surprise bucket I left for her and Kate. She made some duct tape 1D shoes!
Gosh, it was hard leaving those two little ones behind. I am so not good at that. I fretted about leaving Kate for the longest time prior to leaving. She's in that 'really attached to mom phase' and I just didn't want her struggling all weekend and me worrying, but she did awesome. Another tender mercy!

Me and Emmsie up in the rafters with the terrible lighting.
I wish I could explain to you the look on her face the several times I looked over at her during the concert. It was priceless!

They had two openers before 1D came out. Boy were we ready! The place exploded once it finally started. I caught it on video but brace yourself, you may need earplugs...

When we purchased the tickets, we were only able to get 4 really good ones. To be fair we had to give one out to each family. The rest of us were up in the rafters. These girls plus another neighbor girl had the best seats. Quite close to the stage actually! Kyleigh said it was the best night of her entire existence. Cracks me up!
They were able to retrieve one of the fluffy snowballs that one of the band members threw out. And Hannah B kifed a water bottle from the stage. We think it was Harry's! We jumped and squealed at the news, who knew a water bottle and a fluff ball could make one loose all sense.

All of us touching the snowball. YES we are cRaZy! But gosh we had such a fun time and made some awesome memories....
 We are SO ready to do it again....Vegas August 2013?
